ATF and oil change for a helluva long road trip

Post by Delicalicious »

Hi everyone

I'm out in Quebec/Vermont from BC and looking for other Delica owners especially on/near the TransCanada through Ottawa towards Winterpeg. I especially need to do an ATF change (even just a drain but with a little ambition and time could be a filter change as well) and oil. I have the oil and filter but need to get the ATF fluid (and maybe filter/gasket, Dex III and the combo for a Mistu Montero 92.)

I have a 5000 km+ journey back to BC (stopping in Calgary first) and need to get things tuned up before departing. Any suggestions along this route for where I might be able to find a Delica-friendly mechanic? or even someone with a hoist that would let me do a bit of work in their shop?

Any info would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

If you're swinging by Niagara Falls I can help, otherwise, I am way out of the way.

Also you might want to consider Valvoline Max Life for your ATF. Meets Mitsu DiaQueen specs specifically.

Jason is good, he and I connect a lot to trouble shot. He is not close to the #1 though, about 2hrs North of Brandon. A tranny oil change and filter is fairly straight forward as you are most likely are aware of already. If your through Winnipeg before Aug. 2 you are more than welcome to use my jacks/tools to do it at my place in Winnipeg (it will be hard to keep me from not assisting). That being said, I would go to just about anyplace with the parts for this to happen and wait and poke my head in while they do it. I haven't done mine yet, but I can't imagine it being any more difficult than other ATs.

further too... I will be doing my oil as well before my trip to BC. I was given a bunch of Mobil 1™ Synthetic ATF If I flush completely is it OK to use this on the L400 Tranny? Also curious if the Montero filter will work on this unit like it does on the L300. No intentions to sabatoge, but I have not found this info after searching for 1/2 hour and I don't like creating new posts that are relative to current ones.

Are you wondering about oil filter being the same?

I'm in Winnipeg, and you could use my backyard garage. It's got a normal garage door - so provided you're not a high-roof with a lift we could make it work.
PM me if you're interested.
