Rear Camera

I installed a rear camera about a year ago, works great, however, Does anybody know if there is a rear switch on the transmission, or anything from the shift column?

Are you looking for a way to trigger it?

You can always use the reverse beeper, reverse lights or the dash reverse light.

There would have to be a switch that controlled those. Though, just using one of those as a feed would work too.

Tracy, what kind of Delica are you driving?

P.S.: I just noticed that this is in L400 Tech so I presume you drive a Space Gear, my bad.

That is correct, looking to trigger it, I figured there had to be a switch for the dash light and beeper, just haven't found it yet, and it's not in my L400 wiring diagrams. I was trying to chase the wire to the rev. lts from under the dash and that was interesting to say the very least...

Easier to just connect a wire from the reverse tail lights at the back and run it forward .Its a lot easier to figure out which one your after there the its up front.

This may help. This member of the UK site gives instructions on how to bypass the backup beeper. He describes where the power feed is to the reverse lights.

HOWTO: L400 - Silencing the reversing beeper.

Hi All
I have found a way of silencing the internal beeper that sounds whenever reverse gear is selected.
some people may like that feature , but for me having to do a long uphill reverse and some maneuvering to park in the garage , it was driving me nuts.

I do not recommend you do this mod unless you have some electrical experience.

Ok , first thing is drop the internal fuse box down. there is one 10mm bolt holding it under the dash as well as one clip that has to be pressed sideways.

When you can access the top and bottom of the fuse box , you will see on the bottom side a 20 pin connector with a brown insert inside the black outside bit. On the bottom row of pins ( looking at the rear of connector ) the 7th wire from the left hand side is coloured Red/Blue stripe.
This wire feeds power to the chime unit when reverse gear is selected.
Cut this wire 2 cm from the connector and join a piece of 10A automotive wire ( about 20cm long ) onto the harness end .( not the fuse box end )

Now turn the fusebox over (looking at the top of the ETACs unit) and on the L/H side you will see another 20pin connector. On this connector , on the bottom row of pins on the far R/H side you will see a Red/Blue striped wire.
This wire goes directly to the reverse lights in the tailgate.
Cut this wire 2cm from the end and join it to the 10A wire you hooked up at the other end.
So what you have done is bypass the ETACs unit , silencing the reverse chime
to summarize-
The power comes in via the R/BL wire under the fuse box, through the new wire you added and out to the lights via the R/BL wire cut from the top connector.
hope you can understand what i am getting at, let me know if you need more instructions.

Another member responded to a question about what wire to use for a backup camera....here is the response he got:
"Best place to get a reverse wire is the r/h kick panel. there is a Red/Blue wire there in one of the connectors that feeds the reverse lights.
you will know when you have the right connector , the reverse lights stop working when you unplug it"

They do mention that some models have different wiring so check before you cut.
