Most inspections places don't know to even check to see if lights are compliant or not. This is really part of the problem.
If the Vehicle Inspection Unit would pull you over, they'd nail you on them, like they did Winnipeg Sue.
What Susan was doing was putting Left hand drive headlights on her Delica. RHD headlights are biased to the left to illuminate signs at the side of the road, and not oncoming traffic. Using them here you _don't_ illuminate signs and blind oncoming traffic. Don't think I'm dumping on you, mine are the same in my truck, since I haven't changed them.
All that aside, right now, If you get pulled over by the VIU and you _don't_ have the letters DOT on your headlights, you will get a fine and have to change them. THIS IS WRONG. It clearly states in the Highway Traffic Act that e-code are acceptable. THIS is why we need to get together and put this law in the face of out oppressors.
Ok, that was a bit strong. But it's true.
I'm compiling a list of addresses as a mailing list of people who care. PM me with your e-mail address if you want to see the drafts of the paper and be kept in the loop for things that are happening.
