Highway suggestions in BC?

My family and I will be picking up our Delica from Mardy in a few weeks and then slowly trekking home to Manitoba. I'd like to take a route that's a little bit... not the Trans-Canada. We're going from the island to Red Deer. I was thinking Sea to Sky to start, and then down the Icefields Parkway, but that was planned in prairie-boy ignorance. Do you guys know of a different, scenic, perhaps a little more off-the-beaten-path highway that would take us there?

The TC is actually lovely through BC, stick to the old highway (hwy 1) when going through from Vancouver to Kamloops and it sends you through the old towns instead of the big mountain passes. From then on its the TC and a nice bit of driving.
Keep an eye on the forest fire situation though and take it easy pushing the van up those hills!

Take the TCH through the Rockies, it'll be easier on the turbo. We took the No.3 and just about cooked the turbo and the head on our '92.

Head south from revelstoke, or west from Vernon out to Nakusp, then # 6 and 31A OR 31 to Kaslo, then down Kootney Lake. Stop in Nelson for a bit, then take the lake ferry to 3a and on down to Creston. Or, on the 3A at Gray creek, take the Grey Creek road over the top and into Kimberley.

In the Cranbrook area valley, off the 95 south of Canal Flats, stop at Whiteswan Provincial Park and the beautiful, and free, Lussier hot springs.

Thanks, all! We spent a lovely few days on the island, then ended up taking the Sea to Sky and joined up with the Trans-Canada, up the 93 to the Athabasca glacier, then back down to the 11 to Red Deer to see some family, saw some dinos at Drumheller, and then as fast as is Delically possible home to Manitoba. It was BEAUTIFUL!!!! I hope we can hit up some of the other suggested highways some day - perhaps another trip is in order...
