Re: Rant
Honda Ascot? ROFL. Isn't an ascot the little neck scarf like Fred from Scooby Do wore? What a lame name for a motorbike! No offense intended it just made me laugh when I read it...

Re: Rant
Ascot is a place in the UK. They have the Royal Ascot Week where members of the Royal Family attend the horse races. The women traditionally wear fancy hats and the men traditionally wear Ascot ties.
Ascot Park (Speedway) is the name of another race track in California (US). This includes a dirt track for small motorcycles.

Ascot, ascot...
isn't that something that gets ...kicked?
But they are a very potentially cool bike. Does it run? Is it for sale?

Re: Rant
Ha, same thing happened to me a year or so ago at JB. Came in looking for a part, with some part manufacturers + their numbers, asking if he could supply (or xref to supply a diff. manufacturer's equiv.). He found and sold me a part. Then when I mentioned what it was for he began a similar rant as you described, though I think it was more general anti-JDM. My 1st thought was: wow, how unprofessional...talk about biting the hand that feeds! Now I'm torn: normally get good deals through them yet don't want to support a place with that attitude. Will rationalize it out to one bad apple and try to not deal with him.Rattlenbang wrote:...one of the guys at JB auto parts. ... when I innocently asked him if they have any Delica parts listed, the guy had a meltdown.

Have you considered a quick chat with the guy in charge to let him know he's got a bad apple whose putting off customers...Blackberry wrote: Now I'm torn: normally get good deals through them yet don't want to support a place with that attitude. Re: Rant
Don't get me started. There's another guy, Ross, who works at the machine shop location, that completely screwed over both my son and myself, when they buggered up a couple of orders. We had to wait over a month for parts, as they screwed up the order, and they supplied the wrong head gasket and I had to redo a head job. He refused to make things right saying I should have compared the new gasket with the old. There was one hole different in the gasket they gave me. I still stay because I get great prices, but I loathe the company. I guess I can be bought.

Re: Rant
I ran into one of the typical RHD-haters at a local pub one day. Stopped in for a pint on my way home from work and an old codger was standing outside having a smoke.
"Where'd you get THAT thing?"
"Imported it from Japan..."
*grumbles* "Those damn things should be illegal... unsafe, if you ask me."
He was obviously set on being a dick about it, so I just gave him the same in return.
"I didn't ask you, actually. And I think smokers should have to pay out their own pocket for health care, if you ask me. Anything else you want to comment on?"
He was stammering for a reply as I strolled past him into the pub.
As for insurance costs, I think I lucked out when I registered the Pajero here. The Autoplan agent asked me "How many doors?" I told her 5, she asked "Like a hatchback?" to which I replied "No... the back door swings open sideways".
"Oh, like a station wagon?" she replied. "Yeah... I guess so" I answered.
And voila... I own a 4wd station wagon. Apparently rates for those are pretty darn cheap ;) (shhhh!)

Friendly warning: I mentioned that idea to Falco a while back and he pulled out a huge bowie knife and said I should 'shut up with that thar fancy talking' if I wanted to remain a Sears catalogue model.Rattlenbang wrote:I wish we could "like" posts like the above, like we can on facebook.

I seem to remember some slightly different wording. A like function would be great, but would phpbb even support that?psilosin wrote:Friendly warning: I mentioned that idea to Falco a while back and he pulled out a huge bowie knife and said I should 'shut up with that thar fancy talking' if I wanted to remain a Sears catalogue model.Rattlenbang wrote:I wish we could "like" posts like the above, like we can on facebook.

Actually... that was a kukri ~ but you know we've always really liked you as our chief poster boy and model in our Sears catalogue events (especially in the woman's underwear section).psilosin wrote:Friendly warning: I mentioned that idea to Falco a while back and he pulled out a huge bowie knife and said I should 'shut up with that thar fancy talking' if I wanted to remain a Sears catalogue model.Rattlenbang wrote:I wish we could "like" posts like the above, like we can on facebook.

Don't knock it until you tried it. When wearing a tiger striped g-string along with a pair of patented chuck norris action pants I'm like an unstopable force and an immovable oject at the same time.FalcoColumbarius wrote:Actually... that was a kukri ~ but you know we've always really liked you as our chief poster boy and model in our Sears catalogue events (especially in the woman's underwear section).

Re: Rant
It's true! You definitely have the skills to pay the bills. I am stuck in the minor leagues modelling fuzzy onesies for Giant Tiger. Someday though if I keep working hard I too can make it to the bigs and fill up a pair of Eves St. Laurants and a Point Zero muscle shirt. Dare to dream.....psilosin wrote:Don't knock it until you tried it.
