I recently sold my '89 L300 (GLX, low roof, 5MT). I ran across a newly imported L400 2.8 with a rare 5MT. I've very tempted by it. However, it looks like the 4M40 with the 5MT is a very, very rare bird. Apparently it uses the V5M31 (same as a Pajero) so it's not too oddball in that respect. I've only seen this combo a few other times.
Are these simply just "that rare," or are there any known issues with the L400s with the five speed? I would think if it's all the same as the Pajero, it's be pretty well sorted. Any experiences?

L400 with Manual Transmission

Only rumour but I've heard that the automatic is stronger than the manual. Look at the ratios for top end speed and ask your self how you'd like shifting with your left hand??
IMHO a manual trans would be awesome and I'd buy it!!! (except that I'm a gas man)
