Hi,
The starter motor has been replaced. Easy start on cold no whistles. Then it whistles about 8 times on a warm start. I replaced glow plugs 20 000 km ago. I have researched a possible 'high pressure fuel pump malfunction,' but I just hoped for an easy fix - sadly I am tiring of this. Jack

Re: Difficult start of warm engine
Hiya. Likely is the thermostat sensor, little part the size of baby finger, just screws in (somewhere near top front of engine... I would have to look at mine to tell you, been several years). its feet measure coolant temp, so senses engine temp to know how much glow plug to turn on & fuel to spray on prewarming mat. Or, You can just turn on the glow plugs 2 or 3 times (click key on, wait till yellow light of glow plug symbol goes out, click key again, wait till yellow glowplug light out, click again BUT this time start while yellow light on ... gotta be QUICK as light on only 2 to 5 seconds depending on temperature), so system knows the diesel has been sprayed on the mat and warmed up.
Can do a phone call together, while sitting in our delicas so can troubleshoot. Oh, presume you have L300?
Cheers christine.
