What did you own before your Delica?
The title pretty much says it all.
Here is my old set of wheels, a 1981 Mazda Rx-7. I had it for about five years, it got broken into twice, stolen once and then stored for two years while I cleaned it up to what you see now (replaced all the door seals, repainted it, added the ground effects, a strut bar, and a new stereo.) This is one of the for sale pics
I still see it around every once in a while, its new owners aren't caring for it as well as I did, You can see a lot of new dents and some car cancer Poor little beastie.
So, I showed you mine, let's see yours!

Well, I drove a 1991 Mitsubishi Colt, still need to sell it, just been lazy about advertising it... $500!

Re: What did you own before your Delica?
I don't have pictures, but here's the list:
I learned to drive in my friend's Dodge Colt (actually a Mitsubishi Galant) and then...
As you can see, I've never actually owned a 'North American' car although both the Hondas, the Nissan and the Golf were all built in North American plants. Don't know where the 200SX was built, but the Cabriolet was definitely a German-built vehicle. Guess I was never really meant to own an 'American' car - sorry Buzz Hargrove.

- a 1982 Datsun 200SX
a 1994 Honda Civic
a 1996 Nissan Altima
a 2002 Honda Civic
a 1982 VW Cabriolet
a 1986 VW Golf (still got this one as a commuter)

Niiice! Had a close-ish look at one of those rigs for the first time the other day - I Like it!
Here's my ride history list:
1970 Toyota Corolla - automatic!! Loved it all the same though - "Sid"
1978 Ford F-150 pickup Crap, just crap.
1977 Ford F-150 Econline van!! , I know, I know, but it was FREE, and not as bad as the truck, though it rusted bad and fast.
1971 VW bus No motor, but also FREE. New rebuilt and
1991 Nissan 4x4 pickup 4 cyl. VERY reliable truck. Still towing the trailer for work until it can't and we can bring ourselves to lay the yoke on Hazel's hitch Cancer on his fenders and a mill that has seen nearly 320,000km, all but the first 72,000 with me behind the wheel
That's it for me, it'll be delicas from now on

Re: What did you own before your Delica?
Sorry, too many to list. I currently drive a 1989 F-250 4x4 on propane(good beast for heavy off road and hauling fire wood). I've been looking at Landcruisers and Pajeros and Delicas for years but never found the finances to get one until my lovely wife drove her GMC Safari into a bridge and broke it good, YEAH!!!!
I had to pull out the fender about a foot so we could still drive it until we got the Delica.
You can see the Delica and the Ford in the background.
Now we had an excuse to buy the Delica and Love it.

Re: What did you own before your Delica?
wow I will see what I can remember
starting with my first car:
1983 ford ranger 4x4 5spd 2.6l V6 ... $300 .. drove it for years, was very mean to it, it held up very well and I sold it for $500
198* oldsmobile delta 88 .. auto.. 320 V8 .. free .. giant land yacht, put a holley 4 barrel racing carb on for tire squealing fun times
198* buick POS.. no amount of repairs would stop if from overheating.. yet I commuted with it for a while
1991 pontiac sunbird 5spd 2.1l 4cyl... nice new car but what a POS as far as quality
198* chevy pickup, diesel
198* ford f150 custom 451 windsor v8, column shift manual, good times, good offroad for a 2x4
1972 chevy c10 I restored to classic good condition, bored out a 454 V8, racing carb/cam/etc, posi rear, etc., big fun pickup truck that could do wheelies
1989 jeep cherokee 4x4 v8 with big fat mud tires.. unstopabble offroad until the transmission ate itself in the forest and I had to drive out 4 hours through the swamp in reverse
2002 kia rio wagon thing.. cheap new car, very very gutless engine
-1982 yamaha xj650 maxim motorcycle.. was a sport bike it it's day and it shows, 180 km/h no problem -still have it, ride it to work every day
-2007 honda ruckus 50cc scooter! still have it and ride it sometimes! it is kind of offroad capable
-1992 mitsubishi delica, the ultimate camping/exploring/fun vehicle! -weekend / grocery / offroad / heavy rains vechicle
what next? I really want to have a city car and a non-city vehicle. I'm kinda poor though so I'll probably end up with something fuel efficient for the city and something like a $2000 zuki samuri or geo tracker for out of the city. Would be really tough to get rid of the delica though I really like it :)

Re: What did you own before your Delica?
Ok I'll play
1970 Datsun pickup, took me everywhere, a true death machine
1976 Datsun F-10, hunk of crap, continually fixing it
1979 Honda Civic, I like Hondas alot
1972 Datsun pickup, not a death machine, excellent truck
1976 Chev Monza, my first "sports?" car, lasted 2 weeks (it's rear end fell in love with a telephone pole)
1990 Suzuki Samari, these things can climb a tree and 35 mpg too, but NOT a family car
1976 GMC 3/4 ton pickup, crap, but did take me camping lots
1993 S-10 Blazer, very reliable 4x4, put over 250,000 kms on that, then gave it to my son who beat it into the ground
1993 S10 Sonoma, good truck, but I can't get to the off-road camp sites with it, for sale
1992 Delica, the wife still has'nt got behind the wheel
As you can see I like trucks and 4x4, cars not so much. Most cars have oil pans that hit the rocks when off-road. Then it's a long walk out.

Always so wanted a SX4 when they came out James, had that ugly sexy thing going like a Delica.

But as not to hijack a good idea;
Too many cars to list this early, including our kids cars, but why is it the ones that we keep in our memories are the ones that we adventured in? Not the ones that took us back'n'forth to work everyday, or took a couple years of bank payments, or seemed like they always broke down. A new Camry and a Dakota 4x4 were both 96 POS' - was it a bad year for NA vehicles?. Belonged in the van club since 84; the toy, two westies, 78 Chev and 97 Dodge work boxes, and a 00 Astro pre Delica. Throw in a several import beaters and a silly high HP caddy which I could barely afford to run at 35 cents a liter. 8.2 liters of Coquihalla dominating fury during the first summer with both - the highway and the built caddy engine.

Re: What did you own before your Delica?
Before the Delica I drove a 1983 Mercedes 300SD Turbo Diesel (my first car...)
That Benz did more off-roading than most SUVs ever will!
But as much as I loved that car, it really wasn't practical for what I was doing, and it was starting to rust, so it was time...
