learing about, and looking to buy a Deli

Post by bassnailer »

Hello. I have been looking for some info on Delica's because I think that it is the vehicle for me. My search has landed me here to your pleasent space on the web. I have spent some time in the last few days reading posts and learning as much as I can, but a few questions still remain. If any of you have the time to answer, that would be great!
First of all, of course, is fuel ecconomy. I read that someone here got around 8.5L to 100Km. Is that average? It seems pretty good.
How reliable are these vehicles seeing that they are all around 15 years old?
And, where can I find one? Did most of you find them from an importer or did you import one yourself?
Basically, I am rather taken by these little 4x4's, and every day I keep my eyes open for one as I drive hoping to get your attention so that I could pick your brain for the duration of a red light. But that hasn't worked out that well yet. Anyhow, Thanks for your time.

8.5 Km/litre is more like it.

You need to read a little further about fuel consumption. Most Delica owners (including me) report 10 litres/100 km on the highway, and closer to 15 city. My last road trip (to the Kootenays) was 10.3 litres/100 km.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't notice the thread about fuel consumption before I posted. I read that, and it helped. I'll just keep reading and take one out for a test drive. Can anyone suggest a reputable dealer? I took note of Japonoid in New West. Any others?

Hi BN, welcome. Your profile doesnt say where you are. Nor whether you nail bass the fish, or bass the guitar? If you're in Burnaby area, welcome to visit our deli, and we can also get a few neighbour deli's over so you can poke about, and hear our strong opinions, and go for a drive. Japanoid is just down the hill from here.

Cheers, Christine.

I do live in Vancouver and I work in Burnaby (Edmonds & Kingsway), so if you have time and wouldn't mind I poked about and asked questions, that would make me really happy!
Bassnailer- I play the bass and I hammer nails... I could have done better.

Thanks, Davis. I'll do that. And thanks to everyone else who gave 2 cents.
