L400 low fuel light
Do all L400 vans have a low fuel lights? Mine is a '95 diesel SWB. If I do have one, wouldn't it light up when I initially turn the ignition on? I want to run the fuel down, but am scared to run out, without the light being operative. Also, what is my tank capacity?
thanks all.
thanks all.

yes they do. i am not 100% sure but i don't think the light comes on when you turn the ignition key on.

Re: L400 low fuel light
I would like to add a "LIKE" to this topic.
I own a L400. My low fuel light does not light when I turn the ignition on. I too am afraid to get that close. Recently I ran it down farther than I ever had with the hopes of seeing the elusive fuel light. I chickened out and took in the next fuel station. It took 58 litres. usually in my past experiences the lights normally come on around 10L in other vehicles I've owned. Is it safe to assume we have a 70 L tank?

Re: L400 low fuel light
It clicks on with about 15L left. I have ran it all the way down before. You get about 75 - 100km on the light. Tank is 75L capacity. Don't be too scared until you start to feel it sputter!

Re: L400 low fuel light
I've run mine dry, no sputter, it just died on the highway. Luckily I always keep a jerry can with me but I only got 16km after the light turned on. Also, I'm in an L300 not an L400 and was getting horrible fuel economy at the time (17L/100km) which is why I wasn't able to make it to a station in time.

Re: L400 low fuel light
It seems to me there are more Sasquatch sightings than low fuel light sightings. I now know that the tank is 75L though.

Okay, It happened. I saw the light. Just for a sec though as I was slowing down on the highway before pulling into the station for bunkering. It exists.

Re: L400 low fuel light
yep it exists here in the Uk as well :) it doesnt come on when the ignition is first switched on but it does pop up just after you've passed a service station and the road sign peering at you through the rain in the dark says next service station 75miles.....

Re: L400 low fuel light
"the L400 has a much smaller reserve than the L300" says my wife who just ran out of fuel in an intersection.
Even funnier than that is the sight of me, on my bicycle with a huge yellow jerry can strapped on the back, riding to the rescue.
