What do you need ? repairs or just service ?
Re: Delica owners in Kamloops, Help!
I need to get my Deli serviced and have timing belt, tensioner belt and water pump installed. I also have a clunking in the front end that is progressively getting worse by the day, will have to check the bushings, but I am not very mechanically inclined.

If you can find a good mechanic that you trust and then get them to call me at the shop (250)954-2157 and I can give them all the basic settings and procedures for changing everything . This is an easy job that any mechanic should be able to complete in apporx 4-5hrs . Let me know if I can be any help . Glen

Ok, thanks for your help. I will attempt to find someone and then maybe get Glenn to provide needed info, thanks Glen. And I am hoping to get to vancouver soon, but usually I only have the weekend off, so it is tough to try and find someone in lower mainland to do the work for me.

Glen,
What would the estimated cost be for the complete job incl water pump and block heater?
The thought occurred to me that as I would be driving past your door in February, it may be easiest to have it done there, rather than have a mechanic friend do it that has never seen a Delica before.

Re: Delica owners in Kamloops, Help!
It all depends on what requires changing as every van needs something different . Labour charge is between 4hrs-6.5hrs and I would strohgly recommend changing all timing and drive belts ($175.24) , tensioners ($145.15) , water pump ($135.15) , thermostat ($12.47) , radiator cap ($12.78) . The other things it may require are oil seals ($52.00) , upper and lower radiator hoses ($76.00) , reconditioned radiator ($225.00) , valve cover gasket kit ($21.78) . When we change belts the injection pump timing is reset as part of the labour charge .

OK, thanks for that. Just received the unit yesterday, today am going to go over the hoses, as well as the boxes of new recommended conversion and compliance parts that were sent with it. I gather from your other post regarding the block heater it is safe to assume labour is about $90.00/hr?

Re: Delica owners in Kamloops, Help!
$70.00 is one good reason why someone from Alberta would wait until they are on the Island to have some work done (PST not withstanding), especially when you think that 1 hour for a mechanic that knows what they're doing with Delica's might be 2 hours (or more) for someone who's not familiar with them, not to mention the factor that the latter party may overlook or even damage something of significance due to their unfamiliarity with the vehicle.
