Re: Oil change
That's a good tip: I live 2 blocks away. The thing is that I work close to Peterbilt in Surrey and they are open until midnight. I will keep in mind both places.

Re: Oil change
So where does one get the gasket. I don't think mine has been replaced in a long time. Back in my Subaru days I has a spare, since I would occasionally have it fall off the plug. Anyone have Mitsu part number? or are they standard Japanese size?marsgal42 wrote:Once the oil flow is down to a few drips, replace the plug, with a new gasket.

Re: Oil change
Less Hall Nvan quoted me $28 & change.
Still close to home and good quality filter, at better price than Lordco...but not quite the Peterbilt deal!

Re: Oil change
I just picked up a BD28 from Les Hall and it cost me $30.41
I inquired what the price would be for 20 and he quoted me a 30% discount for that many.

Re: Oil change
I'll give Les Hall a shout on Monday and see If I can swing a flat rate for the club. I push enough biz through that outlet on a monthly basis. Guess those guys arent looking at the bigger Delica picture.

That's a good point Golfcart!
How do these filters compare to the one made in Japan? I got my last few filters from Mardy (Sakura?) and they were much heavier (read more paper inside) than the one previously available called "Advantage"...
If the BD28 are as good or better than the Japanese ones then I'd consider buying a case if the price was right but for now I'm quite happy with the Japanese ones... Any idea?

Re: Oil change
thanks for the tip of getting filters from Les Hall. Picked up a couple today for the regular $27 price each. I do all work myself except out of laziness and lack of wanting to do it in the street I get my oil&filter change and greasepoints done at mr.quick lube & oil on marine drive in nvan. They do a really good job at the dozens of other things they check and fix as well. They do carry delica oil filters but they charge $49 for them, so $27 is a big savings for me every 5000km! :)
In case you were intested in using them for changes, Mr.quick carries quaker 15w40 4x4 (diesel certified) synth blend, and also shell rotella 5w40 sythetic (what I run). Or you can bring in your own and save $.
Actually when I gave them the filter to put on I mentioned I got it from les hall for $27 and that they do good bulk discounts, and the owner seemed very interested and it sounds like he is going to contact them.
So you may have referred a lot more business to them then you thought, Golf Cart!

Re: Oil change
last filter I got was already mentioned earlier (WIX 51067).
Looking on www.rockauto.com which i'm using for alot of interchange parts lately, I found this filter for the L300(also the L200 which I have).
WL7154
It's made by WIX also and I was able to get confirmation that it interchanges with 51067 from a techy at the company via e-mail. He hasn't returned my second e-mail asking for more technical info such as pressure setting, filtration area, flow rate etc.
but at $11.38 I'm fairly tempted to try it out.
Anybody have an opinion

Re: Oil change
1993, L300.
Do I have to change the gasket on the oil pan drain plug everytime I change the oil? If so, is it standard? And where would be the best place to buy them? I'm going to attempt to change my own oil and fuel filters soon (my first time doing this).
Thanks,
Adam

Re: Oil change
Nope, ya don't have to change that drain-plug gasket every time - I've never changed mine and never had a leak there.

Happy Day!

Re: Oil change
Me too, one thing, you need to keep plug gasket on the open fire (e.g. cigarette lighter) for couple minutes then dip it in the water.konadog wrote:Nope, ya don't have to change that drain-plug gasket every time - I've never changed mine and never had a leak there.
Gasket will be soft and good as new.
Good luck,

Re: Oil change
I know this is an old thread but I'll update it as this is where I found the info I needed.
I ended up going to Les Hall in N Vancouver to pick up a Baldwin BD 28 filter for $36 then brought it to Quick Lube for the oil change.
Quick lube is now called Express Care. They have in stock the WIX - 51067 for $30. They were friendly and said they service allot of Delica’s, I would use them again.
