Driving back from Oregon Coast on Maylong and the odometer decided not to roll over 130,000km. It sits at 129,999 over and over.
Never had to deal with this one before, any suggestions on fixing it? Is this a job for a mechanic? Hopefully you guys can help!

Re: Broken Odometer
I think there's no fix... Mine broke when it reached 110,000 kms and I've been counting the kms with the trip odometer since. This happened 24,XXX kms ago.
You can get another dashboard with similar kms and install it. This is what I have been planning to do, but I don't know when that's going to happen, maybe when I have enough $$$ to fix my Deli.
Good luck...

Re: Broken Odometer
I seem to remember someone telling me that the odometer has something built into it to protect against being dialled back or at least an indicator that it was dialled back. The way it was explained to me was, if the original mileage on the odometer was 110,000kms and was turned back to 80,000kms then when the odometer reachs the 110,000kms mark again the odometer will stop working. If this happens then there is no way to fix it other than getting another instrument pod with a working odometer.
Assuming what I have said here is accurate, then this might shed some light onto what is potentially happening.

Re: Broken Odometer
I don't really believe in "un-fixable"...
My hunch would be that some plastic cog wore out in the odometer... if you're not too worried about the dash pod appearing to be tampered with you could open it up and see if you can spot something that's stopping it from turning, if you can inspect the mechanism I would bet that it's likely something pretty straight forward, fixing it on the other hand will be anywhere from dead simple, all the way up to impracticle (not impossible, just may be easier to simply get a new one)... (oh, and taking it apart far enough to work on will be a pain too)

Re: Broken Odometer
funny this topic came up....I had a similar experience, except it was the trip odometer that stopped working, while the main odometer kept going....i keep a trip log just to keep track of my diesel kilometrage, and lo and behold, when i filled up, i only got 255 kms to a tank according to my trip odometer, but my main odometer told me i cleared 535 kms! yikes!!!!

Re: Broken Odometer
At least when the odometer on my Benz failed, BOTH failed together... of course it didn't fail completely, it just skipped occasionally, I started thinking I was just getting horrid fuel economy, until I drove from Calgary to Regina in about 400km... even weirder though was that after about a year of driving that way, it fixed itself and started working relatively accurately again..I had a similar experience, except it was the trip odometer that stopped working,
