to fully describe what the Shaken is would take ALOT of typing so i found a link to the best discription i can find. Here is a link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaken#Ren ... r_vehicles
and once you read what is involved you will know more of why you wont get a copy of a shaken with your auction vehicles, if your van has not been re registered or insured for 2 years or more there is no shaken to go with it, or if its coming due for inspection and will cost to much for repairs it can just be dumped at auction. thats why there is almost NO market for them after 10 years old since the Kiwi's and Aussys can import them at 10 years old after that they get scooped up now at 15yrs old to Canada so from 10-15yrs old they sit, well not ALL but a major amount of them.
also there are MAJOR insurance, registration increases for vehicles at 10 years old and again at 15 to "motivate" buyers to keep the newest vehicles...
all the rage here in Canada is to buy from an auction becuase private or buying from dealers costs a bit more money and importers/car lots can do everything from the comfort of their laptop...bringing in 5,10 or 27 delicas at one shot, in one evening, how many do you think are Great vehicles?
Auctions are certanly the "EASIEST " way to buy a vehicle , but keep in mind there is a reason it cant sell in a Japanese car lot...

Do you have a copy of one of these reports you have so others know what it is? It sounds like a maintenance report and not a shaken report. Isn't a shaken certificate just a safety certificate to say it passes the safety inspection?

It will also have the milage so you can see it's so how it's getting younger over time, if it's going to auction the van does not need a current shaken and the milage can be rolled back. You can also find out about timing belts/ chains . Alot of pertanent info is there

didn't mean to go off topic. just want to find out how to see one of these reports the enviro.imports is talking about. might be of benefits to other members when asking for back ground information on vehicles they may be thinking of importing. is there a section where enviro.imports and post a scan or link to what he is talking about?Manitoba deli wrote:This is so off topic
