Intreguing,

FSM is certainly provocative, seems pretty reasonable I suppose. If you dont accept FSM what happens to you in the afterlife?

Hopefully I don't get accuses of a wiki post but:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_Spaghetti_Monster

That is the best explanation behind it, and the actual website:

http://www.venganza.org/

Which is a bit easier to understand in light of a quick Wikipedia read.

Long story short, it came about when the Kansas board of Education was trying to force equal time for teaching "intelligent design" versus Evolution. Of course, the Intelligent Design camp was the Christian Right trying to push an agenda in the U.S.

Well,

Lets just be happy that we can have this discussion, and beleive in FSM without being accused of blasphemy, or witchery, resulting in years of agonizing torture, and humiliation or death.

(as many OUR level headed ancestors have had to endure for centuries, it hurts me to think of all suffering that good people have dealt with over the years...there is no excuse! that is where I get my resentment from)

I remember once playing Trivial Pursuits and getting a question on history, which went something like:
  • How many witches were burned at the stake in Salem Massachusetts in the year 1683?

We were stumped. Comments started being voiced like "how should I know" or "I don't keep a list" &c., people started guessing in round numbers. Eventually we turned the card over to see the answer:

  • None.

But how did they know they were witches? Did they bother to see if they floated?

What about the innocent ones? Like one gentleman who was killed during interrogation, he was crushed to death because he refused to confess to the crime of witchcraft.

Wouldn't it have been easier and quicker to throw him into the local pond!

Well, I think that is the premise of the question: How many witches were there burned?
Who knows how many people were burned/drowned &c., I think it is important to remember that we are never that far away from this kind of scenario.

It is said that every country is only three dinners away from a full scale revolution, as was experienced in France when the ministers told the queen that the people had no bread to eat and she replied: Then let them eat cake.Could you imagine what would be happening in Canada right now if there was no welfare?

Yes,

Some time ago I was talking about how we the people arent united enough to take a stand. Someone else told me that it comes down to food, I agree. When the day comes that we get hungry enough things will change.
