Harmonic balancer fix
My crank pulley went after going up Grants so after ordering a new one which got sent via Canada Post and cannot be tracked in the us and didn't arrive soon enough so I bought a hacksaw, small sledge and flatbar and pounded it in evenly where the rubber used to hold the two parts of the pully together. The steel was thinner than the gap but the pully has a curve that will center the inner pully. This fix might help someone out in an emergency. You also need a big bar and socket for the crank pulley nut, an.d don't break the radiator return nipple leaning on it like i did! I think they get pretty brittle when you overheat badly.

Re: Harmonic balancer fix
Did you get the new pulley on eventually ?
Another note about the crank pulley is that there are two part numbers.
Both are physically identical pulley's but the timing mark is in a different position on each one.
So if you get the one that has a different part number as yours, then line up the old and new pulley and mark the new pulley at the timing mark located on the old one.
Just a heads up

Re: Harmonic balancer fix
I did get a used one, but dont trust it as much as my "fixed" one so haven't yet installed it.The L400 isnt timed off the crank pulley like the 300 is, which i guess is why my engine survived.Cheers Duncan
