I was in at Costco today as I am looking for tires for my soon to arrive Delica. They said that they wouldn't mount the tires on the vehicle unless they knew the correct torque setting for the lug nuts. Anyone know the correct value? Is it posted on the door frame?

Costco fills tires with nitrogen, checks pressure and rotates them as a standard service... The main advantages to using nitrogen are that it contains no water vapour, so you don't get as much expansion and contraction when they heat up and cool down, and it also doesn't have oxygen which slowly escapes from the tires through the rubber, so you don't have to keep topping them off with water-logged air from gas stations.

i don't know about the exact figures for the torquing on the wheel nuts, i have yet to confirm my purchase with costco but didn't know that they won't touch it unless they have the exact torquing values.. anybody with that info, help please... thx!

12-14kgm as per the owners manual. Or just tell them 90-100 ftlbs.

I ran into a dude in northvan the other day with 31"s who said they fit perfect, no lift, no bashing, no cutting. He also said they were awesome and improved his highway performance.

he didn't have stairs though.

I've got nice new AT regular size tires right now but I'll probably go bigger for the next set.

Can anyone point me at some info on the tensioners? just where to find them and how to tighten them up. Free clearance would be awesome.

O.K guys, now i'm not sure what to go for, i was told that although not much heard of, the hankook Z-36 is a heavy duty tire good in all conditions that would outlive a bfg by far, they apparently use that tire on commercial trucks up north, in the interior and remote areas where most driving is done on gravel roads.. the tire apparently last forever and its only about a 100$ more than the bfg's for a set of 5.. does anyone knows this tire or had experiences with it? looked it up on the net but could not find much for reviews.. It's so frustrating, tire shop "experts" all have different opinions, apparently the good year wrangler silent armor is suppose to be an excellent tire as well, they all are about the same price , give or take a hundred dollars or two, the bfg's being the cheapest but lots of "experts" telling me that all the other ones are by far way better for my buck... toyo open country at's...yokohama geolander ats shit!! which one?? By the way i HATE making decisions when it comes down to caugh up a 1000$$!!

Isn't there are universal tire rating system? is it trustworthy? last time I bought tires I spent about 10 minutes looking at prices at various shops and looking up ratings ie a certain tire would score a 8.7 for dry, 9.5 wet, 7.8 snow/ice, 6.2 durability, 5.7 road noise, etc. I just found most tires had this rating system applied.

I put Nokian Vatiiva LT'S on my Delica, they are awesome tires, quiet on hwy great stability in the wet. Looking forward to trying them in the snow, I am sure they will be good.

Just another choice for us deli drivers.

Have the Nokian Vatiiva LT'S (245's) also, coming up to there third winter and will have to replace them this upcoming year. The BFG AT's are better in the snow, BUT when using chains the BFG's take more of a beating (softer and deeper tread maybe) then the Nokians. For a skier whom 'has to' chain up I would recommend a tire like the Nokians, you'd just wear the knobbies down too fast on a all terrain tire with chain chains.

I did quite a bit of research in the 4 months I waited for my Delica. I came close to getting the wrangler. Ended up going with the Dueler Revos in the 235/75r15 LT version. That's the biggest size that will fit on the stock 6" rims.

I've only had them since the 1st of August, so can't say too much. Fine on pavement, pretty good in loose gravel, don't know about wet or snow. I'm in Calgary, so rain storms only last 5 minutes, and I haven't driven during the 2 snowstorms we've had so far.

The Duellers do tend to pick up stones then spit them out. Makes a bit of a racket as they hit the wheel well, but so what.

so would buying used tires be a no? i was looking at some on craigslist and theres some pretty good one for under 900. im just freeked out abotu buying used because on my new tires iv already had two really scary accidents. for any one whos wondering why im asking about buying used tires when i own brand new all season tires the reason is i wasnt really thinking after my first tire blow out,and i just wanted a new set right away.for any one who wants to buy some 27D and 16 rim all season tires that are only month and half old, i got some.

I would recommend staying away from used tires unless you know the person or the circumstances why they are selling them. If you buy from a stranger, who knows. Maybe they wouldn't balance right, they got several nail holes, stolen, etc.

With you (possibly) selling yours, it's a bit different, since you are giving a good reason why you want to sell.

I would tend to suggest that, unless you really dislike the ones you have, just use them until they are worn, then buy what you want. Generally, used tires, even in good shape, go for about 1/2 the new price, so you would lose quite a bit in selling.

yeah i was thinking they would go down alot in value,i think i might just wait for them to wear and then ill get some big once, im still gonna check these ones out though.do tires generaly take like 4 years to wear?
