Delica's are technically/legally a '7' seater.

The '8th' jump seat does not have a seat belt and should not be used as a normal seat for any child/person.

With the double bench/jump seat setup though, it makes for a nice, flat queen-sized bed.

just out of curiosity do the bench seats fold much flatter than the captain's chairs? or are you still needing to put an air mattress or the like on top to even it out?

Bench seats are flatter, but the big advantage is that there is no gap like that between the chairs. I like a thermarest laid out diagonally across the cargo bay in the back myself - super flat. That only works when sleeping solo and with the rear bench out though... I think the chairs are more comfy to travel in, but I still prefer the bench

I prefer the chairs myself but I can see the pros of both, and to each their own. I would like to look at putting the split fold up bench in the back like Bruce did but would need to see if it was in fact safe (actually attaches to the floor in the centre so in a crash it doesn't just flip up and smash the passenger into the window .

I thought he actually mounted the clip-down points into his van...

Would be a simple matter if they only bolt to the floor: correctly position, drill through the floor pan, bolt 'em up. Of course, it would be best if there was a cross-member at that point, or one could add pieces of flat bar.

Nobody is selling their's now that we are covered in snow. All I need is all you guys adding seconds and thirds to your fleet's.
I can't even get out of this snow to go buy one. I need a Delica to go buy a Delica.

There is what looks to be a really nice Jasper at MaxOverdrive. $500 over my budget by the time taxes are in for the one with full servicing. I wonder if they will give me a $500 pity discount if I tell them we have 4 kids under 7? I offered it to them by email...no response.

One thing i find strange, it seems almost every dealer won't move on their prices. Which I am not necessarily complaining about. I would prefer to live in a society where the price is the price. I hate when you make an offer to someone, and they bluff you by not accepting, you walk away and all of a sudden they are chasing you down for that same price...it just feels shady. If the price is the price, you don't have to waste your time looking at ones $500-1000 over you budget. You just know it's not gonna happen. Whenever someone get's a good deal, it usually comes at the expense of someone else getting burned anyways.
Not saying I don't like a good deal...give it to me! Anyways, just something I have noticed since I have been Delica shopping.

If you take notice, there are a lot of Delica's for sale privately on craigslist.

One of the reasons is that diesel is still between 20-40% more expensive than gas depending on the day or week.

I did some searching. There's quite a few to choose from if you're willing to drive around and look.

Most Delica owners are in some form attached to this forum. I would be looking specifically for a Delica who's owner knows about this site, has been here and who has had the Delica serviced by one of the Deli-mechanic's.

They are out there. About 2,000 less than dealer pricing on average and you save the tax.

Trust me, craigslist and I are "tight." Along with kijiji, usedvictoria/nanaimo/vancouver. Unfortunately, alot of those are sold...a majority don't know the service record. I won't buy one that hasn't been serviced, unless the price reflects that. Most of the dealers non serviced price is more expensive than one preserviced, once you factor in the added servicing costs. Which leaves me looking for private sales (preferred, but limited amount) or dealers serviced price (generally just out of my budget, but lots to choose from)
Something will come up though, always does.

Anyone have an opinion on jautoimports in courtenay? I looked at the dealers beefs etc section, didn't see much on them. If anyone has any info, i would love to hear it.
