I think you would really like the roof racks I make, all polished aluminium so they are shiny like stainless but have almost no weight, we took a set (2) out to butler brothers and put a half block of concret on a set and there was only the slightest curve to them, and a half block is 1120Lbs on the website i have a set of svedish imported ones next to the old version we made, the import one says Max weight 50lbs evenly distributed. in the picture in the above post, its a set of my roof rack brackets and I made the whole Safari rack cage, alot of work, but they are over built to last a life time.
When I was coming up with the design i wanted to make everything (Kenny Proof) so thats what we went with.
On a side note, did you hear, Kenny Broke a set of the 404 mog shafts.....rob wanted picts of it. ahhhh, the good old days..

The other beetle place is Ellice Auto behind the Bay st car wash. Had my belts waterpump and 2shocks put on for ............ wait for it ................................$1800.00 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I supplied all the parts except the shocks.
I was desperate because this was a few days before my trip to Halifax and my previous regular mech refused to work on such a funky ride.
The Halifax trip was great tho. Ran like watch ...... a good watch.........

1800 sounds like a bit high, but did that include the timing belts? ballancers? the usual import prep work ... If I tally up some previous work ive had done, for Full cost of the parts, being timing belt, ballancer belt, tensioners for both, water pump, fan belts, rad flush oil , fuel, trans filters, + $68-$75/hr for shop time, Ive paid in the $1500 range for it all, parts plus labor. but i could see it being more if they had to spend time getting any tech manuals or anything to properly adjust the timing, maybe adjust the injection pump.... but post your invoice to show what they charged you for.
Was the work done well?

"I supplied all the parts except the shocks."
It was a year and a half ago , the bill was just for the shocks and the labour.I think the work was well done just a little pricey .I'll dig out the bill when I get home.
I'm skiing in the rain at Sun Peaks right now. Silverstar next week. Lousy warm weather up here.
Hope its nice warm weather in Vic now.

In the end I drove up to see Glen in Coombs... worth the trip. Glen was a pleasure.
We had a small chat at the nonsense that other mech. are so scared of the Delica. I'll keep looking into the south island connection. I've been recommended to a few places out here just no word if they take Delicas... ...yet.

Over a year later, has this issue been resolved? Is there a good Deli mechanic or two in the Victoria area?
