Re: Hitch group buy???
I'll be up for a hitch install very soon - but may now do the exhaust first by the sounds of things.

Re: Hitch group buy???
Ok, I'm seriously lame. Posted this thread, then got super busy over the summer and forgot to check on it. Well, now my van is back in Vancity and I'm back on the hitch trail.Coultrains wrote:me too? too late ???
Any takers for a group buy, still? I'm thinking the 2' one, the 1 1/4' would be cheaper but less versatile.
I'd hope we could get one for less than $500 with a group buy. Anyone still interested? Or did you all get your hitches already?

If you want, I have one drawn up in CAD and have a CNC plasma table I can cut and weld the brackets to make another one. If you have rear exhaust then I might need to see the truck first again to make sure it will clear. All you need to do is go to an auto wrecker and buy a used hitch that you can strip the bar and receiver off of and weld them onto the new brackets. I picked up mine for $40 and say, $130 to cut and weld the brackets while I have the steel sitting here. You will also need 4 each of 1/2" bolts, nuts and washers, grade 8, 1 1/4" long any thread pitch. This is assuming you are willing to help with some sweat equity, I am not interested in painting etc. I can help you with wiring up the trailer light converter too if you want to bring the bits.
If you want the rear nudge bar too it could probably be welded onto the hitch but I never tried because I dont really like it anyways.

If someone just wants the mounting brackets and has the ability to weld, I made them so they are bendable by hand, then you just weld the slits up so it is solid. I could cut and sell the brackets. I have a bunch of steel, not sure what it is worth but figure $100 is pretty reasonable.

That sounds great. I'll find a used hitch and get back to you. I do have the orig rear exhaust, will that be a problem?EricN wrote:If you want, I have one drawn up in CAD and have a CNC plasma table I can cut and weld the brackets to make another one. I dont think it will interfere as it stands now but if it does no worries, I can modify the drawings pretty quick to suit and cut new pieces.jcolvin wrote: That sounds great. I'll find a used hitch and get back to you. I do have the orig rear exhaust, will that be a problem?
