I saw an L400 at a dealer in Surrey (on King George) that had spots in the same location as Jesse's, but with no additional fog lights. The looked factory installed to me, but that's just from a cursory look.

If you are talking about the small lights where the small round vents are in the front, that would have been done aftermarket. No Delicas has lights in those vents. The "outside temperature thermometer" thingy is in behind that vent on the drivers side. All models have lights and they are all mounted on the bars. They can be yellow or white but they are always on the bar. The Royals can have the additional lights mounted on the additional bar as shown in the photos. The wiring for the spot lights comes out through those vents with a rubber grommet . Some compliance evidence packages in Oz require additional indicators in the front (long story to do with visibility angles of standard indicators) so they were forced to take the spot lights off the bull bars and fit small indicators in those vents. If you know what to look for over here you can tell which workshop complied particular Delicas by the type of indicators they put in the vents. None came with spot light in there.. Cheers

Those corner vent locations where some spots are mounted look to me like they should be brake cooling vents.

Putting spots in there would be useless in the winter driving in snow. They would quickly clog up with snow.

Just the opinion of someone with an L300.

don't think they have much to do with the brakes, seem just decorative, but I agree they might fill with snow.
Either way, Mitsubishi never installed lights there as stock, but some very nice after market ones seem to get jammed in there sometimes.

jack up the back and spin one tire, if the other spins the same way you have LSD if it goes the opposite way you have an open diff.

Or.. Park on a hill with one rear wheel on the grass and one on the road and floor it. If it sits there and spins and go no where you do not have lsd.....Cheers

Not far off how I tested my L300... my back lane is on a steep hill and was one half ice, one half gravel, the fact that I was able to drive up it proved the LSD was working (my work truck wouldn't budge)

that will test if you have LSD and it works, you could have LSD and it not work properly.
