I have no wheel lock light, ccautos Glen told me they are factory, AND I have seen the exact same flanges on other 300's.

No worries.
I've seen L300's with manual hubs, auto hubs and flanges (including Hazel)
In the service manuals, tech manuals, sales catalog/brochures, all L300 4x4 Delica's came with automatic front hubs.
If any came with 2nd generation flanges, I would suspect it was installed after it was shipped for sale.
The only plausible explanation for flanges on an L300 Delica 4x4 would be if there was a different F/T 4WD transfer case installed in place of the P/T 4WD one we see in all, if not most. Or, the original auto hubs failed and the mechanic replaced them with what they had on hand which are the flanges, since they are a perfect substitute and are readily available (off 2nd Gen's).
About a year or so this came up and I dug really deep and came to my conclusion above.
If you have any documentation that shows L300 Delica's, specifically 4x4 models, with factory 2nd generation flanges, I would love to see it.

I re-titled this thread to avoid confusion as to whether you were towing with your L400 or if you were towing the L400 behind something else. Of course it's apparent what you want to do in your initial post, but it makes for better searching.
Anyway, as the others have indicated, unless you have driveshaft disengagements fitted (either by a 4x4 shop or an RV shop), nearly all 4WD or even AWD vehicles have to be dollied or flat-decked. As the others have pointed out it has to do with the transfer case and/or the transmission and the fact that it is not lubricated properly without the engine running (there's a pump to move the fluid around).

I have not got any documentary proof, but I do have a dash that has NO wheel lock lamp - and it's not that the bulb is just burned out either - there is no place for it at all. Where that indicator is on other buses is just black plastic on mine....

Cool beans. Wonder if you have a different transfer case as well.

I have no clue about the transfer case... I am really surprised they didn't just use the same dash though.... Seems kinda odd, but there it is...
