Your assumptions are correct, the L400 has a smoother ride, and less noise in the cockpit, the L300s "bob" more due to the shorter wheelbase, the flip side is that the L300s are more manoeuvrable for this same reason and can turn around in tighter spaces, or squeeze in to smaller parking stalls.
