My L400 2.4 Litre gas fuel use is the same as my L300 in town but better on the highway. The L400 V6 gasser should be a great highway cruiser with much improved (highway) fuel mileage.

With a full load of camping gear and boat I drove Coquitlam -Wiliams lake before a gas stop and return with one fuel stop. My speeds varied to 140 KMH with lots of acceleration at highway speeds. Loaded the L400 2.4L gasser was great :-D and unloaded even better. :-D.

Off road my L300 was the same as my L400 gasser's fuel mileage but on the highway my gasser is better . I enjoy both L300 and L400s.

I'll be super interested to drive together with any of the other Delicas to compare at the pump and weigh scales.

In summary please remember they're all good vehicles. .

Don't quote me on this but "I think L400s all use the same transmissions, drive train, brakes and suspension components. Interiors are the same dependent on the model you choose. Fuel, engines and fuel tanks may be the only difference.

Diesel for the win.

Diesel holds approx 10% more energy than gas paired with a more complete combustion (when tuned right); this equates to better fuel economy. Compared to the v6, it has a smaller displacement, but with a turbo (simulated displacement) on tap whenever you need it for extra oomph.

I also noticed that getting used to driving "smaller displacement" td such as the l300 took about a week to get used to the throttle feel, so if you are on the fence, test drive a few, or contact Mardy and go on a longer drive, because once you get used to using that torque, it feels great.

Thanks TLGF,
The trip could be extra long if I'm stopping a tonne through the mountains just for fuel. I was hoping to get to Golden before my first stop for fuel... I'll keep notes on my speed and fuel usage and update the forum on how the V6 does not only on fuel but for power and passing capabilities.

So, Aclarker ~ are you making it to the Lower Mainland this trip, would be cool to hook up and look at your bomber.

I carry a jerry can for when I go into the bush because it can be a long time between fuelling stations in the toolies. On the highways you should have no need for a jerry can, so long as you keep an eye on your fuel gauge.

I've made the trip to golden a few times and had no problems with fuel..... I have the diesel but cruised along no problem 100-110 kph used a little over half tank of fuel
