I wonder what the legal status is regarding that (curtains in the front windows)?

As long as they are tied open while driving, I suspect it should be perfectly legal... closing them however would more than likely not be legal, nor would it likely be very safe...

Even tied open, with the windows down they would flap and generally be really annoying at speed.
Okay, brain fart: scenario: cop pulls you over. As he/she walk up to your vehicle, you pull closed the curtains on both doors. Can you imagine what would go through the cops mind?
Now to get some idiot to actually try it, and then wonder why he got shot LOL

mine came form japan with the curtains on the front windows. i use them sometimes while sitting in a ferry lineup in the summer. my wife closed the passenger side one once or twice while on the hwy in mexico. ive even closed the drivers side, on a hwy. it only goes as far as fwd as the window is straight.

I love the dual sliding doors as well. With 3 kids, that is a godsend.

Or when that terrorist launches an anti-tank missile at you from the side, just open both doors.
