HI Am thinking of purchasing my first Delica but after reading this article I wondering if is the way to go since ICBC may ban the RHD ?

It’s also worth considering that Quebec has passed legislation to prohibit the registration of RHD cars newer than 25 years old and Prince Edward Island is also introducing legislation that would prohibit RHD cars. Even ICBC is hinting about the 25-year rule, according to a Frequently Asked Questions documention on their current website addressing how a change in this rule would affect current, licensed RHD vehicles. Could this be the beginning of the end of RHDs in Canada?

ICBC cannot ban RHD but the government can. There is a distinction between the two.

Quebec has passed legislation to prohibit private registration of RHD vehicles newer than 25 years old. There are many exceptions to the rule. Commerical, government, ex programs are all exempt from this clause. They did this not because the vehicles are RHD but because of the importation of JDM's. If the JDM's were all LHD, then they would find another way to keep the importation level low so it does not affect CADA/local dealerships of north american vehicles.

ICBC cannot implement/change the importation rule into BC, Canada.

Read both replies above.

ICBC and CADA are attacking JDM imports. RHD is just one aspect they are using. There is also a rise of LHD vehicles being imported into Canada through Japan that are Euro spec (LHD for European countries). You can bet your cookies that they will try to find something against those as well.

The sole reason why any of this is in the media is because of the high volume of imports. Not because they are RHD.

That is a fact. Anything else you read is a joke and manipulated by the two corporations.

ivoac.ca is a good source for real information on this topic. The media is controlled which is why you can't beleive everything you read.

The problem is that N. American vehicles come with built-in obsolescence.

After a few short years, they break...unrepairable.

JDM's are designed with more wear'n'tear in mind...
