Leaking water pump

Hi,
I noticed today a puddle of coolant under my 2.5l Pajero, and after I checked I think it is coming from my water pump.
Do you know how much a repair would cost and is it something a person can do himself or it has to be a mechanic?
Thanks

Hi Jesse,
this link you posted is for 2.8l engine, mine is 2.5.
Do you think there is a big difference or the water pump replacement is pretty much the same?
Thanks

If you're replacing the water pump you should do the belts and thermostat as well. If you're having a shop do it the parts should be about $400ish and the labour $350ish.

4D56T takes a bit more time but not much.
Remove the 2pc fan shroud
Remove the clutch fan
Remove alt, AC and power steering belts
Loosen the power steering pump bolt/adjuster and move it out of the way
Remove the thermostat housing
Remove the top and bottom timing covers
Remove the tensioner beside the water pump (take care that you keep the other pulleys where they are to keep your timing correct)
Remove the water pump and replace with a new one.
Clean the surface before you mate the new pump.
Optionals. Replacing the thermostat is a good idea at this stage and check the timing belt/tensioner/pulleys/any oil leaks.
Reverse install.
