Crystal Lite Roof questions.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of the Crystal Lite Roof?

Leaks? Breakage? Security? Hot in summer? The shades mechanism in the ceiling looks like a nightmare.

Can you install a roof rack (and carry a small canoe) with the Crystal Lite Roof?

Can you install a roof rack on a high roof Delica?

Thanks!

I haven't found any disadvantages so far. Only 2 of my 4 shades work. I have to see if I can fix the other two myself, but it is pretty low on the priority list right now. Green1 wrote a very nice how-to-guide here: http://www.delica.ca/forum/sunshade-rep ... o-766.html

Hi, usually i never have problem with leaks with crystal roof, the only problem in crystal roof commonly is sometime the super exceed or exceed seems to have small bubble rust on the roof between the glass but only to a different color Not on white color. other color do get bubble or rust, you just have to fix it repair it & put fiberglass on it. i dont know why only white color seems to be good, for most delica that i got.
generally, for me its fine, it depends on which ways you would like,
super exceed is the top of the line. the most expensive delica when you buy brand new. but used one as its 15yr old its almost the same. but the option of this delica for super exceed is better all the luxury you got.
i do really like super exceed delica as the best money & cars you got.this is just my ipinion & choice, you just have to make decision on which one you like to get.
cheers:

FWIW, my high-roof Super Exceed Crystal Lite Delica has, so far, been water-tight in a Vancouver winter. This includes the sunroof. Due to roof height issues I have to park Gumdrop outside.

Having taken delivery last September I can't speak much to summertime aspects, but it didn't seem worse than any other vehicle. Only two of my four shades work. Like others, it's such a pain to fix them that I'm just living with it for now.

BTW what rack are you using? Obviously it's tall enough to clear the crystal roof.

An old Thule rack I bought used. It came with a cage as well, which may end up holding my spare tire if I ever get around to mounting a WVO tank in the current space.

If you close the shades, they block an amazing amount of heat. IMHO probably not much difference between them closed and a non-crystal lite roof.

And considering the wonderful view and airy lightness when they are open, well worth the possible heat loading.
