Super select front wheel lights flashing while driving?

Hi guys,
We just bought a 99 L400 and noticed that the front wheel lights on the super select are flashing when driving?
They flash as soon as you turn the vehicle on. When 4wd is engaged they stop flashing and turn solid.
Is this normal? I searched some threads here but was unable to find a definitive answer.
Cheers

They shoud turn off after a short distance driving but try backing up a couple of van lengths. If not do a search for flashing 4x4 lights or variations. Big bird wrote a few posts on that problem.
good luck

Thanks for replying.
I have still not taken possession of the car from the dealership (they are getting it ready). I have contacted them and hope that they have the integrity to acknowledge the problem and fix it before I pick it up! When I took the car for a test drive I asked them about the flashing lights on the front wheels, they assured me it was normal!
Will keep you guys posted on what they find.

the green for the front diff is a single bulb and will continue to flash if the vacuum actuator or rod at the front diff jam or sieze. But the most common issue is the vacuum solenoid pair behind the engine bay fuse box which can fail internally.
the vacuum can at the front diff can also be a problem if hoses crack or fall off or the can is damaged.
if you have a flashing yellow center diff light then the transfer case switches that detect shifter position have started to fail. there are 5 switches but only 2 cause the yellow light to flash.

Thanks Big Bird! I will get them to check the vacuum solenoid pair and vacuum hoses. Will update with what is found.

Dealers mechanic found that the solenoid was gummed up, they gave it a clean and no more flashing lights!

Hi. Was hoping to ask you a question about the above post... I'm in northern B.C., not sure garages here are very familiar with Delicas. Is there a way I can look at the vacuum Solenoid pair myself and assess it. (Green light flashing when in 2WH, tried backing up the van, tried shifting in / out 4WD multiple times...). I am not mechanically inclined at all.
Also where would I search for a diagram somewhere on the forum of that area of the motor's anatomy?
Thx,
Justin

Hey Justin,
All of the shop manuals for the L400 Vans are in the technical reference library's section. There's everything from the engine, suspension drivetrain to the wireing harnesses there. You should be able to assess it yourself, but honestly I'm not sure how. It's not a part of my van I have had to dog into yet. Hopefully by studying the manual for the transmission you can gain some knowledge on how its supposed to work.
Peter.
