Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has advice for L300's with LSD.

I understand what it is for.. but I'm wondering if it just ends up being another maintenance cost in the future?

If you're looking at buying a Delica with and LSD that you don't want, I'll gladly trade mine, and pay to have it fitted to yours.

It's important if do buy a LSD diffed Deli to drain the old fluid and add a the right amount of LSD diff fluid back. Doing this does improve the LSD performance, more friction in the clutch pack I guess, a 15 year old Deli improves quite a bit. A LSD diff would experience accelerated wear if it offroads in slippy conditions often, and would still works as a open diff when the clutches wear out.

We have one Deli with LSD and one with out LSD; LSD would be our first choice. AND, you can put me second on the list for a LSD diff. Hey, I'll even buy you dinner and a case of beer........

It is still a bit confusing to me because the Deli I'm looking at is an Automatic....
Does that require less LSD maintenance than a manual with LSD?

Also the types of LSD there are, confuses me.. what's on the Deli?

My guess would be that an auto MIGHT put less wear on an LSD, certainly the way I drive. These vans are very light in the rear, and as they are rear drive (when not in 4wd), an aggressive start with a manual transmission can spin the rear tires, especially in wet weather. I've found that it's harder to spin the wheels on my Delica than on my Toyota van, but I've only been driving it for a week, and I'm still babying it a bit...

ya.. I was reading about it on Wikipedia,, and it seems like the Automatics have less wear on the LSD.

plus.. overall anything that has LSD in it must be better !
As long as my Deli aint rainbow colored.
