Insane Marvy Idea for Delica Trips

First, I have to quaff a bit at the trip suggestions centering around the Lower Mainland. Want some back road fun, try a Prince George alley about this time of year. I'm not kidding! About a foot and a half of rutted ice while you luge down the roadway.

Is the back road up to Grouse still open? I used to do that in my '56 Willys M38-A1, otherwise known as a CJ-5. But segueing into the topic of the post using the ol' crater crawler on Harrison back road trips pre-Expo '86, here's a suggestion for trips...

While my buddy and I were taking these back road trips, we did the Harrison Road and camped at the Forestry Camp Site hot springs along the Lilloet (sp?) River behind Whistler somewhere. We camped next to a guy with a diesel Toyota Landcruiser with two of his sons (he had 12 children). He had the greatest hobby I can think of for anyone loving back road traveling in BC; and I'm sure the hobby was a pretext. This fella went around collecting samples from all the hot springs in BC. By the time we met he had collected hundreds.

This is the stroke of genius - think about it - most of the hot springs are in remote back road locations. And what do you get when you arrive? A chance to bask in a natural pool of mineral waters with incredible scenery. A perfect excuse to find the remote places. You don't have to collect vials of hot spring water as he did, but a few pictures wouldn't hurt. (Be discrete please!).

I hope to buy my Delica soon and be a member of such excursions.

Just the Prince George Alleys? I guess just the lifted Delicas can handle the potholes on the city streets...
