Front step mod

I had removed the front steps but I like the look of the step bars along the bottom edge of the front of the van (and I suppose they provide some degree of protection to the transmission and A/C coolers), so I cut each off and bolted the shortened sections back on. I used the end caps from the removed steps.

I'm still a bit undecided about this but it was a simple experiment and only took a hacksaw to cut as the material is pretty thin.

Another thought is to grind off the front mounting brackets, pivot the step to reduce its slope, and have the mounts welded back on. The rear mount, nearest the tire will need to be shortened and it's angle changed. Seems simple enough though.

I dunno ... bored? It's really only an aesthetic thing and doesn't serve much practical value. But as I was unlikely to ever reinstall the steps I figured there was little to lose.

I did the same to my steps a couple months back just because i didn't use the steps & really the steps aren't that much protection since they can be bent pretty easy.
