I just purchased a 1993 Delica. It is great shape and I am really looking forward to taking it hiking and camping this summer. Next month I will be making a vacation to Japan and I am wondering if anyone has some good ideas for things I could purchase while I am there that might help me servicing this vehical in the future, or to just Pimp my ride...
Domo!

hmmm, that's a good question. If you plan to lift it, you could get some fender flares for next to nothing, but then how would you get em home (they're rather large)... Aside from that, most maintenance stuff is available here, maybe grab a timing belt and a water pump while you're there, since they'll be cheaper and will fit in your luggage.

I go to Japan on business a couple of times per year - and though I really have not had much time to investigate in depth - the general reaction from my associates over there is that our vehicles are too old to find aftermarket pimpy type stuff - or at least not readily available, or not without pilfering off a vehicle that has everything onboard already. I hope you have better luck than me.
Enjoy the trip!

Hello Penner,

Where are you travelling in Japan? If you head up to Hokkaido, check us out. www.bdlodge.com We run a ski lodge in winter and know Hokkaido inside and out. You can even rent your own delica for a road trip around Hokkaido or if you know anyone interested in a delica, you could test drive the vehicle here first.

For goodness sake buy a load of the plastic curtain sliders, or better yet whole sets of curtains. I got tired of trying to find curtains and just bought some material to have them made but I still do not have any sliders. :(

Hey man...how's those tires & rims working out?
Not bragging - in fact - I dare anyone to truly enjoy these "all business no play" trips?
I've got mill guys from Prince George begging me NOT to take them on the next one.... :-D

If your driving from Narrita to Tokyo or other places, make a stop in Chiba, there is a part of the city that seems to be a 20Km long car lot and after market shops, If you cant find some Japanese only issue delica toys, then your looking on the wrong side of the street, I swear I almost get wiplash from driving there, on both sides of the road at the same time is non stop car lots and toys.
I was just there a couple months ago and about ten min down the road on the left is a Delica ONLY lot/shop, the most tricked out vans you will EVER see, not cheap by any means, but Mind blowing to see so many tricked out vans.
