Phil was one of the first people to drive a 4M40 (Pajero) here in Canada (same as L400).
Thanks Phil for the update.

Well, I have just under 50k clicks on this bad boy since I got it last December (08). I did the rear discs and pads when I got it, as well as the tailpipe. Since then, aside from a few mods, I have done the glowplugs, and the fuel injectors. That's it. This truck has been very good to me. I have a block heater sitting on my bench but haven't felt too pressured to put it in yet. I often forget to plug it in, and have started it easily (unplugged all night) at -20*C, with no troubles at all. Fuel econ is averaging just over 11L/100km. Not super, but not bad for a heavy, aerodynamically challenged rig. We've had a fair bit of adverse weather so far this winter, so I've spent weeks at a time in AWD.
Needless to say, I'm really happy with this rig. This one is a keeper. I really need a locker in the back and a winch in the bumper, but otherwise this truck is perfect for my needs. I'm *planning* to hang onto it for four years or so if possible (but you know me), at which time I *might* look at a genIII with the 4M41? They are legal for import in 2014 or so... we'll see.
I need to do some maintenance soon, like belts, thermostat, coolant, diff fluid, etc., but in terms of reliability, this thing has been great so far. :kewl:
