hi
does anyone know what can be done to help the sunroof slide a bit easier? my one works ok but it is slower than my friends one and seems that the motor is working harder than it should. ive greased the slider and tracks but its only a bit better?
anyways, hope someone out there might have some ideas.

The only way to repair it properly is to drop the whole sunroof assenbly out of the van and thoroughly wash and clean all the slides . Once they are cleaned of all debris then work the roof back and forth applying liquid grease to all moving parts . I have done several up to now and it works perfectly after repair . Only down side is that it takes almost six hours to complete . Feel free to call me at the shop for any technical assistance (250)954-2157

We use a product called HHS2000 made by Wurth from germany . It is an aerosol that sprays in a liquid that sets as grease once it has ran into all the `cracks` . The grease is good to -40degrees C and lubricates very well . Any light oil or grease will work just makes it a little easier to apply with a spray can .

It is not sold off the shelf in a parts store . You would have to contact an area representitive directly . Not sure who it would be but lookup Wurth Canada on the internet and you will find the name and contact details for someone in your area .

You may also want to compare years of both yours and your friends delicas. They actually changed the motor sytem I think in 1992 (don't want to say any exact yearsfor fear of someone correcting me). When we repaired a 1991 with 1992 parts, the drive system was completly different (wire rope verus a cable). Not only were they slower, but they also made more noise.
If they endup breaking...
Check out
http://www.thedelicapage.blogspot.com for a play-by-play of the replacement process. And yes, the first time does take a long time to do it. Of course after you do it once or twice, the process can become easier up. Best to either leave it to someone who has done it before or do it with a friend so you don't go crazy, or better yet a 12-pack of ice cold friends.

Of course a 12-pack will make your repair take on a whole different flavor. That is if it ends up getting repaired at all, or just broken a bit more severely.
