MUST READ!

What if they ban RHD? No big deal 'cause you managed to get one before they passed the law? Wrong, once the law passes your vehicle won't be worth shit, maybe scrap metal.

Get into an accident and kiss it goodbye, you won't be able to replace it.
Resale value? Down the drain...
Support for parts, who's gonna bother...

We all know what's happening in Quebec but if nothing is done you realize that it will act like a virus and spread across the country, just a matter of time really.

Someone took the bull by the horns and started legal action, paying from his own pocket for legal fees. I've attached the link down below and urge everyone to read it.

I would love to see our club showing interest and commitment. It's one thing to donate to the cause but even better would be to do it as a Delica.ca member.

I will start the ball rolling and donate $200.

Trust me, I'd rather buy fuel, a pyro, a lift kit... but even more important to me is realizing how much I love RHD vehicle and what it's worth to me. A lot more than $200! But time aren't easy so every little bit helps.

Thanks,
David

I'm in :M

Contacting the dealers/importers/parts sales here in Canada and even the exporters in Japan would be a good move.

They have a great deal to loose collectively and individually.

I don't agree with your view on RHD's grandfathered in will be worthless with no parts support.

With thousands of Delica's, Landcruisers, Skylines, etc ... The parts support will remain.

The value of the vehicle will rise considerable since you won't be able to buy them.

Thanks David for posting this up.

The ban here in QC actually has far more repercussions than RHD. Associations like the CADA, CCA and AMVIC (CCMTA?) are working and lobbying in the background against RHD, modified vehicles and of course "Fleet Renewal". In the end what they really want is the money being spend on vehicles not purchased at their members dealerships. I find it rather distasteful.

These groups also want their vehicles maintenance performed exclusively at the dealerships. How? By not sharing the computer codes. Go ahead, try and connect a computer to my Safari.....BTW it 24 volt poof!

The time has come for those who like and have enjoyed something a little different to take interest.

Cheers,
Paul

David, thank you for making this post. I believe that the Delica community is a great bunch and can make a huge difference in this fight. Please everyone do what you can and if it's not $$ please sign up on IVOAC and send as many letters, emails, etc. to every newspaper and politician you can. Together we can stop these greedy car dealers from forcing us all into huge monthly car payments and lousy vehicles.

Only if you can re-sell them, something that may become impossible.
For that matter, if they can make a case to ban new registrations, it's not much of a stretch to ban already registered vehicles.

If the ban spreads, you can guarantee it will eventually affect every RHD owner.

Count me in, Donation sent.

Also wrote email to Minister of transportation, my MLA, and MP.

Detailed how AMVIC's plans would affect my family negatively.
Personalized my experience with our Delica and presented my arguments for why RHD vehicles should remain on the road.

Hopefully something good comes of this.

I'm very much surprised no dealers and importers on board here are not active with this topic ( or this section especially ). What are you going to do to support the community ? :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o The community has supported you, now it's time to return the favor in some way!

I have sent every dealer here a private message encouraging them to post their comments on this thread. I think if nobody replies that will show their customers and potential customers a lot about their true character.

Good start!

Thanks William, good idea to get the dealers involved as well. I'm sure they'll be flying their colors in no time, especially those who care more about the community than their wallet!

It would be nice to have an actual number $$$ for how much Delica.ca will help. For those who will support financially, you could PM me directly how much you are sending and I'll regularly update the total amount on this post.

Thanks!
David

No need to start pointing fingers. Not helpful with this topic.

Two on your list were already ahead of you before you even posted here via ivoac.

Give everyone a more than a day's time before you start throwing mud.

Chill out and keep it civil.

This is a group effort.

David, I contact Dominique a while ago and he has $20 from me to start.

When the ball gets rolling, so do my bills in his favor.

" I think if nobody replies that will show their customers and potential customers a lot about their true character."

William - Who the heck do you think you are?

Just because someone doesn't respond to your demand for action does not make them of bad character!

I may donate as soon as I find out some more DETAILED information about this action, but from what I've been able to read via the links posted, I'm not ready to send some guy in QC my hard earned bills just because he's "secured a lawyer and started the process to fight the law in the Superior Court of Quebec".

Get off your high horse.

Snelson I am not asking anyone to donate anything. I'm simply asking people to get active with this stuff before it's too late. Quebec is a good example of what can happen.

Over 2 years now I have been trying to get other dealers into the fight we have going on with Japanese vehicles. To date not really much support or interest at all. If I soiund arrogant, my apologies not how it was intended. Sometimes being blunt is necessary though.

Good stuff Mardy. Have you signed up an account over at IVOAC yet ? I think you would be a good asset as you are aware of some other markets in Asia and such ( assuming so from your past posts here ) I think the whole RHD / LHD was a factor in some of those countries ? Would be nice to hear some input about that and how it was handled.
