Delica Canada | Mitsubishi Van Club

I'm looking at a Delica for the family veh. Dynamics recently changed... kid is here. I drive a 1989 Toyota HJ61 Land Cruiser (DIESEL!) and love it for it's purposes but my wifes P.O.S. Chev Corsica is starting to cost us a lot. We need a little around town fam. wagon and the Delica seems a sensible fit.

Problem is... I know little to nothing about them and there seem to be very few in Edmonton to view. Hopefully the more knowledgable out there can answer some questions or direct me to a good site...

What is the difference between:

Super Exceed and Exceed?
XL vs. GLX?
What is an exceed crystal lite roof compared to a exceed sun roof or an aero roof?
etc... etc... etc...

I looked on the Mitsubishi site and they had a lot of info based on numbers (frames etc) but nothing explaining model names!

Hi, Mattew, welcome to the forum, good choice if you decide the to get the delica. this is a good van & will be a good fit for your family.
First Different of super exceed & exceed delica with crystal roof is that superexceed has a like velvet swed seat on it , front & rear lower bumper & front side step has crome on it, also has 2 battery as for winter package as the way they design in japan, winter & non winter package, this is the top of the line delica & just some accesories, while exceed has just regular seat , paint white fron t, rear bumper & side step, but crystal roof are the same.but one battery, second to top of the line. this super exceed & exceed has 7 pass on all delica with crystal roof. but still some exceed without crystal roof have 7 or 8 pass depend on the option they got from japan.now GLX model usually has 8 passenger design on it, but cheaper model. also has 1 battery, hope i give you some of the info about this delica, if need more info pls e-mail me & will gladly help you since i did bring many of this delica.

Hi Matthew, and welcome to this forum!

I had a Delica myself until a year-or-so ago and then sold it, and now am hoping to acquire a new one. Being "Delicaless" at this time, I'm not sure that I qualify as a Jedi Master, however I will throw in my two bits...

As far as I can tell, the difference between the "Exceed" and "Super Exceed" relates to whether or not it has an icebox or not. Both tend to be high-roof crystal lite models, and both have the same engine, transmission, etc.

The "crystal lite" roof describes four glass panels BEHIND where the driver & passenger sit. These do not open, and are covered by power shades (which unfortunately are notorious for breaking). In my opinion, the crystal lite roof is a great feature, because it's unique, and it adds tons of sunlight to the back rows.

The "sunroof" is the opening glass pannel directly above where the driver/passenger sit.

I believe that "aero roof" simply refers to a low-roof model (as opposed to high roof). My recommendation... Go with the high roof! I'm not sure about the "XL"/"GXL" distintion (the "G" MAY denote gasoline, but I really don't know)...

My last delica (an "Exceed") had both the crystal lite and the sunroof, and I definitely hope to find the same features on my next one.

If you haven't yet driven a Delica, you're first impression probably will be:

1. Driver position is very high, and and very far to the front of the van.
2. A little bit sluggish on the highway (if speed is your first concern, better to go with the Skyline GTR instead)!
