ECM REPAIR

Anyone have any recommendations for ECM repair in Calgary? Some of the components on the board need to be replaced and a tracing needs to be resoldered.

Re: Timing Belt replaced

No real special tools although air tools were helpful. That crank bolt was a B***h. By removing the rad I had enough space to get on it with my impact wrench. Then it came off no problem. I'm in Cow Town and used to live out Banff way so give me an email if you are going to diy.

Timing Belt replaced

Replaced the timing belt, upper and lower tensioners, waterpump, and thermostat this past weekend. Not overly complicated, but time consuming. I have a few suggestions for anyone attempting this job. 1. Get a helper...I had one and it was invaluable. There were many times when I needed a third and f...

Re: Keeping Batteries From A Cold Death

AS FOR BATTERY BLANKETS THEY ARE THE SHIZAT! FOR 20 BUCKS YOU CAN'T GO WRONG....HAD ONE ON AN OLD NISSAN TRUCK AND IT WOULD CRANK OVER IN MINUS 40 LIKE IT WAS PLUS 20. YOU DON'T NEED CCA'S WHEN BATTERY IS WARM. NO USE IF YOU CAN'T PLUG IN, BUT HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IF YOU CAN. I PUT ONE ON ALL MY VEHIC...

GLOW CYCLE LENGTH?

REPLACED GLOW PLUGS WITH NEW NGK 2161'S THIS FALL. MY GLOW CYCLE LENGTH SEEMS TO BE RATHER LONG TO ME (ABOUT A MINUTE OR MORE TO HEAR THE SECOND CLICK). THE OLDER MITSU ONES WERE ABOUT HALF THAT. ANYONE HAVE A REFERENCE TO COMPARE? THE CYCLE LENGTH DOES NOT SEEM TO BE AFFECTED BY TEMP AS IT SEEMS TO...

Re: STARTING PROBLEM

PROBLEM SOLVED! Was faulty starter after all. Once starter and batt replaced and still wouldn't start I re-examined all conections at the battery. Whoever owed the van in Japan must have had some accessories going on because connections at the battery were a real rats nest. By trying several varying...

Re: STARTING PROBLEM

Yes.....I have tried easy fixes such as wiggling the shifter and taking it apart to clean. It will not start in neutral. I have checked the wires at the transmission all seem intact and not corroded. I have replaced the battery (including new terminals) and the starter. I have rigged up a push butto...

Thought it was problem with starter so removed the starter and had it rebuilt in Calgary put it back in and same issue. Contacts and bolts at starter are clean and tig...
