Re: Praire owners, I need help deciding
Just get the LWB Pajero 2.8 turbo ...better fuel economy than a Safari and plenty of power. I love mine. No block heater and it starts in -25° no problem (albeit needs a few minutes to warm at that temp, lol).

Re: Mitsubishi Jeep
There's a Mitsu Jeep somewhere in North Van., had a nice chat with the fellow a couple of years ago. Not sure if he's selling it or if it has documents of use in the movies? VKrj1ymJzmo Falco. Lol! Awesome. I'd forgotten the Raymond Burr was in that Godzilla. Burr was born in New Westminster for th...

Re: Looking for advice on next vehicle
The Delica is awesome if you need the room, and/or do a lot of camping. If it is just a daily driver for you - or you do very long trips (10+ hours as I do) - the Pajero is very comfortable and good economy. That said, I totally agree with waiting for a 2.8 TD. I prefer the Paj but there are obvious...

What Whitemule said... AND x3 ...5) install a by-pass glow plug switch If you have two strong batteries, a switch that optionally engages the glow plugs will smooth rough starts in any cold weather and far easier than "multi-priming" the plugs with the ignition prior to turning it over (th...

Re: Winter tires on Delica - or just All Terrain all year ro
Now I just need to find a set of winter rims that fit the L400 and don't cost a ton (damn 108mm centerbore). Old Toyota rims (like 90s 4Runners) all fit. I have a 4Runner (actually a Surf) and I swap my rims with the Paj at will. The slightly newer Toyota 16s should fit as well (my Harrier rims als...

Re: Winter tires on Delica - or just All Terrain all year ro
Nokian Hakkapeliitta are incredible snow tires... What he said. I work at a mine in the middle of the Rockies... we get snow in every month of the year, so traction is pretty important. Our "go to" tire for all our light duty trucks (over 150 vehicles) are Hakkapeliittas. Same on my perso...

Re: thinking of trading my delica for a lifted hilux
One of the inherent problems with that vintage of hilux diesel (2LT/E), is that they were pretty under-powered. Adding a lift, and (am assuming) bigger tires etc., just exacerbates the problem. I thought this was endemic to the small diesels... but not so! The 2800 TD 4M40 in the Paj will do 110km/h...

Re: thinking of trading my delica for a lifted hilux
Waaaay short end. Unless that Hilux is absolutely tricked out, it's worth about $3-4500. And while I liked my Hilux (a '91 Surf turbo diesel 160k), I like my Pajero a great deal more... more power, nicer to drive, more room, better engine. Just "more". And I was a 'Yota guy too: '87 diesel...

Re: Deli in the USA
I take my Pajero across all the time - Idaho, Montana, Washington - and never a hassle. Seattle is fun, as not many RHD get down there and have people just about drive off the road, mouths agape, lol. My favourite was some guy in Tacoma dressing me down for letting my daughter text (with both hands)...

Re: Alberta bound on the Vegematic
...Making it more complicated is the load in a rig like this is more rotational than a trailer tongue would be... Yes. You have to divide the length of the lever's effort arm by the length of its resistance arm. So the "resistance arm" in this case might be a weld 2cm away from the pivot/...

Re: Tire recommendations ??
For winter tires I refer people to this chart from a winter truck tire review of last year. I myself went with the Nokian Hakkapeliitta SUV 7 and I couldn't be happier. Quiet on the dry and as sticky on snow and ice as I have ever experienced... and while there are some forum members whom live farth...

Works awesome. Just make sure you use the 11V plugs, not the 7V quick-start version.

Re: Help w/improve fuel: currently@ 16.6 liters per 100 km/1
Had another thought that stemmed from a UK Pajero site... if your A/T switch is in the "PWR" mode (and your dash light indicating same is burnt out), you will greatly affect your fuel economy according to this thread . If you are not sure what lights I am referring to, see a description he...

Re: Help w/improve fuel: currently@ 16.6 liters per 100 km/1
If you have occasion to throw it up on a hoist, spin the tires. If you can't - or it is very difficult - chances are you have a seized brake cylinder. This will obviously affect your mileage and brake pad life. It sounds like a simple thing, but 2 of the 3 JDM vehicles I have brought over here had t...
