Just get the LWB Pajero 2.8 turbo ...better fuel economy than a Safari and plenty of power. I love mine. No block heater and it starts in -25° no problem (albeit needs a few minutes to warm at that temp, lol).

One of the inherent problems with that vintage of hilux diesel (2LT/E), is that they were pretty under-powered. Adding a lift, and (am assuming) bigger tires etc., just exacerbates the problem. I thought this was endemic to the small diesels... but not so! The 2800 TD 4M40 in the Paj will do 110km/h...

I take my Pajero across all the time - Idaho, Montana, Washington - and never a hassle. Seattle is fun, as not many RHD get down there and have people just about drive off the road, mouths agape, lol.
