Re: So many lights, one at a time
Thanks, Falco (et al.) With numb fingers, and rain running down my neck, I removed and checked the most obvious of the fusible links--the one labelled "Lights"--with my multimeter. The link was good. Trying to remove the next one--"Locks"--for testing and wrestling with the secon...

So many lights, one at a time
I'm just about at my wee wits end here. At last count I'd lost dash lights, headlights, fog lights, running lights, radio, brake lights, signal lights, interior lights, horn, and hazard lights. This has not happened as a single catastrophic failure with smoke and sparks, but gradually over the cours...

Re: AFTER dead battery assistance
Thanks, Jay. I suspect you're right about a few electrical bugs appearing coincident with the dead battery. Everything else seems to be working okay. Though we didn't often have cause to notice, the audible warning was working not too long ago. I do wonder if it had stopped working, and that's the r...

Re: AFTER dead battery assistance
Thanks, Falco, and I appreciate your moving this to the appropriate site. By fusible links, are you referring to the blade fuses in the fuse panel, or are there others in the middle of circuits, etc? As I said, the fogs (and accompanying lights) were left on, probably for 3 or 4 hours. The fact that...

AFTER dead battery assistance
We had to have a boost from BCAA after the battery ran down. I wasn't there when they did it, so I can't say exactly how the booster cables were connected. We have a '92 Chamonix with dual batteries. Anyway, now the seat belt warning sign stays on, and the "lights on" audible warning doesn...

Re: Driver's seat slide mechanism
On closer inspection I realized that the latch lever engages its own set of notches on the outside slide rail. Using both hands I was able to release both sides simultaneously and at least move the seat back. This should allow me to get to the bolts at both ends of the rails now. Ron

Driver's seat slide mechanism
The heavy wire that connects the driver's side under-seat latch with the slide release mechanism broke, with the seat stuck--most unfortunately--in its furthest forward position. I can reach under and pivot what I think it was attached to, but the seat still refuses to slide backwards. I imagine I'l...

Re: Delica L300 Manual
Hey Erik. If you mean the one with all the cute little cartoon illustrations that would likely have been in the glove compartment of your brand new Delica, Glen at Coombs Country Auto had a whack of them the last time I asked.

Re: L300 headlights gone wild--'92 Chamonix
Ouch! A question, though... if the switch is fried, why do all the other light-stalk functions still work? As for running 55W H3s in the projector lamps--I did that the first time an originally-installed 100W burned out, and I actually had a cop at a roadblock tell me my lights were too dim. Not to ...

Something has just occurred to me. There are 100W H3s in the projector lamps... has that fried the switch? Ron

Re: L300 headlights gone wild--'92 Chamonix
And if someone were, say, "faint of heart", what would the alternative be? (Late last night, I think I saw a sick set of photos that were taken in your backyard, Jay--ugly ugly.) Oh, and while I have your ear... This morning I saw an L300 running the projector lamps as DRLs. My projector l...

Re: L300 headlights gone wild--'92 Chamonix
Thanks. Much appreciated. I'll give it a try. As long as I don't have to remove the engine. I don't have to remove the engine, do I? Seriously, though... where's the relay located? I can't tell a whole lot from the schematic. Ron Oh, and about the cheese thing... Moonstruck from Saltspring makes a g...

L300 headlights gone wild--'92 Chamonix
I came out of the mall yesterday to find my headlights were on, and no, I hadn't left them turned on. These are the fish-eye low beams, not the DRL/high beam lamps. I fiddled pointlessly with the ignition, the on/off switch and the handbrake to no avail. The only way I could shut them off was to pul...

Re: Da lee kuh or Dell ikuh
I think the Japanese pronunciation falls somewhere in between the two... something like DEH ree ka. I picked up on the Celica rhyme initially, and now it's hard to change. Whichever one I choose, the person I'm talking to seems to use the other. I guess you just have to speak with authority and don'...

Re: Gas (or rather, diesel) mileage??
We have a '92 Chamonix 5-speed (high roof). So far as I can tell, it's a single 55-litre tank . Just checked through the last 10 fill-ups... we seem to be averaging about 12.5 l/100 km (roughly 22.6 mpg) combined city & highway. Not stellar. The best leg of our recent trip was 25 mpg, straight h...
