Ask yourself this question.

Do you 'need' a snorkel for function or do you 'want' a snorkel for looks?

A snorkel on an L400 is only good for one thing: water crossing above 4 feet. That's a tall order.

Either way, you have two options. Pay what everyone else does or make your own. Personally, I see no reason unless you're going swimming with it. The stock setup breaths very well with a large exhaust.

You can buy direct from China but in bulk 10 or more.

wow, 4 feet of water on the delica...that's water in the interior for sure...that's assuming you get some seepage in if you made it through...but if you got stuck then for sure you got yourself a flood inside(and a messy recovery!)!

ha. that's an awesome video.

from what i've been reading the snorkel adds power and longevity to the engine.

seems like a good long term investment. But who knows. Maybe someone one with more expertise could comment on that.

a snorkel will add as much power and longetivity as regularly changing your muffler grease. its much easier to change your muffler grease.

On a stock L400, the snorkel raises the air intake level. Power and engine longevity are not affected unless you begin to modify the engine and exhaust. There's a lot to read on the net. An L300 with the smaller 4D56T will benefit more from a snorkel because it improves the stock airflow considerably. Stock L400 airflow is good.

A snorkel 'may' net your L400 a slight increase in power in conjunction with a large exhaust, higher boost and increase fuel supply. Other than that, as above, it's either for looks or swimming.

I have one hiding in Victoria, Marmeisto has been holding on to it for me. I was going to sell it, although, I may end up giving it to him to add to his Pajero...

Granted, this all depends on if I can KEEP my Delica, which is all very much up in the air right now. If I can keep it, I will install the Snorkel, if not, it is up for sale unless Marmeisto decides to convert it for his Paj.

I probably won't have an answer if I can keep my Delica for another couple of months.

Here we can see the snorkel adding power to the engine vs the other video. :-D :-D
