mystery belt

Post by almac »

ok, so i was changing my oil in my L300 on saturday when a belt just dropped out, when i was removing the oil filter! :? the belt itself was in HORRIBLE condition too...

when this happened, i immediately checked to see if everything was working ok.
alternator... check.
AC... check.
Power steering... check.

i don't have any warning lights coming on, on my dash, and everything has been running fine since saturday. Have i missed something here? does the alternator have 2 belts or something?
Roads!? Who the hell needs roads!?,

Yes, the alternator does have two belts. When you replace, be sure to do it in pairs and try to have matched pairs if at all possible. If you are ordering through Lordco or similar ask for matched pairs. If you look at the numbers stamped on the belts you should be able to tell if they are cut from the same roll.

cheers
