Problems while travelling, please help

Just keep on truckin and enjoy the trip. Your brain won't let it go (I speak from experience because when something just isn't right with my van I can't let it go until it is solved) so eventually you will find the solution- just might be down the road a ways .

One reason for flap on the K thermocouple is if the leads are loose. You are measuring <70mV so it has to be really clean. You cannot splice this wire, extend it; also make sure there are no shorts.

That said, I have seen several Autometer gauges do this lately and that has led to a few calls coming my way for pyro installs. We just plugged in a digital gauge to the same probe and it worked fine, every time.

Here is how you drive without a pyro: slow down. If the water temp rises, you are doing it wrong.

I'll just keep driving until the oportunity to figure it out presents itself. I'm not in too much of a rush but it is disheartening to have to have to look at the GPS time and then add x hours (granted I'd still have to add a certain amount anyway just not as much) Also, is it not the water temperature that would indicate overheating or cracking the head and the pyro is just an additional gauge since the water temperature gauge doesn't show temperature change as quickly!?
