CV Boots part #'s, please confirm

Post by jwfchase »

Can anyone confirm that these are the correct PN's for inner and outer CV boots for an L300?:

Inner boot (Napa) CVB764
Outer boot (Napa) CVB304

Why not get Napa to cross reference them with the OEM number, which you can find in the JDM Online Catalogue.

Those part numbers are in Napa's computer
Just call them asking for Montero

It is the same on our Pajero = Montero

So, would "1 32014R MB896069
See all prices 01 BOOT KIT,FR AXLE SHAFT,RH BJ 1990.10.1 - 1992.09.3

be either the inner or outer (I know LH and RH are the same), and

1 32013R MB886676
See all prices 01 BOOT KIT,FR AXLE JOINT,RH DOJ 1990.01.1 - 1999.06.3

be the other one?

I'm just not sure, as they don't use the terms "inner and outer CV boot"

Yes, thanks Batman-- I just wanted to check if I was reading the JDM parts website correctly, as that will definitely be a useful resource in the future!

ANybody know which would which: The "Boot Kit, Axle Shaft" would that be the inner or the outer CV Boot? Obviously "Boot Kit, Axle Joint" is the other one, but again,... which is which? (I ask because I'm having trouble finding one of them)

Hi Jamie

They are both axle shaft/joint boot kits.

On both, one side of the boot attaches to the CV housing on the shaft (middle) and the other side of the boot attaches to the CV joint housing (outter)

As for the name, the cv 'joint' kit is the inner and the cv 'axle' kit is the outer.

Thanks Jesse. On an unrelated note, I just dropped by the shop where it is being worked on (front diff being replaced) to let them know I had located the CV boots, and the owner(who I have known and trusted for a long time) and another mechanic were looking at something on the front end and swearing and looking frustrated. I walked up to Kevin (the owner of the shop) who is usually very friendly, he looked at me and looked at the other mechanic and said "well, we don't work on these every day. We're taking a coffee break." And they walked away.... uh oh :-(
