Delica Central

Post by El 300 Magnifico »

I'm in the U.S. Navy stationed on Misawa Air Base in northern Japan and, man, are there a lot of Delicas here! I'm not sure how common they are in Canada, England, or Austrailia, but they're EVERYWHERE here. I know they're not very popular south of here in the Tokyo region, but they sure are in this snowy region. You see a lot of both L300s and L400s, but not many of the newer ones, like the D:5. The older models are particularly popular with the military folks around here, probably because they're inexpensive and like nothing one can buy in the States (that's why I bought mine). I believe that, besides mine, there are five other Delicas on my street. Though I haven't been to one yet, the guys at work tell me the salvage yards are filled with Deli-parts. I sure hope so, because as I was under the ol' StarWagon yesterday to see how to remove the brush guard (gonna paint it), I noticed that my sway bar bushings were completely rotten and need to be replaced. Gotta fix that undercarriage if I want to perform a sweet stoppie like the guys in that YouTube video, right? Heh heh.
Cheers.
