Re: grease points on delica ????
So, it is confirmed that my Delica has only 9 grease points because the upper ball joints are aftermarket ones. Hmm. I wonder why, the odometer showed 72K when I bought it...

Re: grease points on delica ????
never mind about the nipple size, got it covered and bought. the only problem is i can find all the grease points right up to the rear drive shaft. i can only find one in there. could anyone throw some of those helpful red circle into the previous picture so i can get a better idea of where to look.

Patty,
I'm not much good with the graphics, but there are three nipples. The one you found is likely the obvious one on the outside of the knuckle. The other two are tucked inside the knuckle (one front and one back). You'll find them if you feel in between the universal joint connections. Hope that helps.
Shane.

L300 Grease points..

Ref the front grease points, they are mirrored on the oposite side so theres 11 in total.

Re: grease points on delica ????
If your ball joints have been replaced (upper or lower or both) you probably won't have grease nipples any more, and this would lessen the number of grease points. For example, I only have nine now instead of the original eleven - upper ball joints replaced.

But the diagram only shows 10. I thought there were 3 on the rear driveshaft. Or was it 3 on the front driveshaft? Either of which would make it 11.BFG wrote:L300 Grease points..

What size are the grease nipples? I need to replace two on the ball joints from L shape to straight ones.

So... do you not have the L shaped ones in your possession? Just take them in and say: "I want these, accept straight". Out of curiosity, why are you trading out the L ones for straight ones?dfnder wrote:What size are the grease nipples? I need to replace two on the ball joints from L shape to straight ones.

Re: grease points on delica ????
I have the 'L" shape ones and they are attached so I didnt want to remove them but I'm getting the drift that they can be removed with no harm done, is that correct? I just didnt want to drive around without them on but I guess once the grease has been placed it really wouldnt run away!
I was going to put in straight ones because the front shim for my lift will make the L unusable.

Re: grease points on delica ????
Yeah, they unscrew in the usual fashion. Just make sure that the surface that they are screwed into is clean so you don't get dirt into the hole when you are removing or replacing. Drive to your destination of purchase, unscrew nipple, go inside and ascertain if they have what you want, come back out and replace either new or original nipple, drive away.

Re: grease points on delica ????
Hi folks,
I'm reviving an old thread here that I found after getting under the front end of my L400 and realizing that on both sides the rubber boot protecting the upper ball joint was not properly sealed (see photo). I managed to get both sides seated properly and then, after losing a lot of grease in the process, thought I better add some but was confused to see that mine is not equipped with a grease nipple. See above posts. This apparently means that at some point my ball joints were replaced, which is strange because I bought the van with 89,000 km on it and it would have been done before I bought it.
My question is: How should I go about repacking the ball joint with grease? or should I not worry about it?
It would be great if anyone could shed light on why these are being replaced at such low mileage or should I question the accuracy of my odometer?
Thanks,
Z
