Oct 4: WARN introduced a new winch series. Called the Zeon.

Post by Big-Bird »

Just got back from Warn's head office in Clackamas Oregon to witness the reveal of their new Zeon Winch lineup. They come in 8000, 10000 and 12000 pound models with either steel or synthetic rope. The units are slick. They are interested in public feedback so let me know what you think.

I think everyone would sign up for that but the company would go broke with that program.

Seriously though. The new unit is now symmetrical. The 3 different pulling capacities are all the same dimensions, only some of the internals are changed. They are quieter than previous models of winches. They are mostly forged aluminum now including the cable drum which is now 3.1" in diameter instead of the 2.5 standard size most steel drums are made to. This larger diameter puts less stress on that first wrap of cable or synthetic line.

There is a manufacturing rating called IP68 which means this winch's seals and gaskets that protect the internal mechanisms are resistant to dust and moisture intrusion even when submerged under 3 feet of water. I have some videos to upload as well and a few cutaway pics for those who are interested in the mechanicals of the Zeon.
