Re: What did you do TO your Delica today?
Glow Plug Relay died again meaning no starts below 2oC for me all week so enough was enough. Time to be done with that Mitsubishi pos and replace it with something better and cheaper. Unlike last year where due to relays size and shape I had to install in a goofy location, the new swank relay I purchased uses a single mounting tab meaning it fit real nice and sexy like in the oem location.
While I was in there I decided to add a simple twin LED status indicator with two Prince and the Revolution Purple LEDs. The first connected to the ECU that will ignite whenever the ECU is trying to activate the Glow Plugs, and the second connected to the output end of the relay that will ignite whenever the relay is activated successfully. If things are working as they should then both LEDs should be lit at the same time, if only the first then the relay has failed, if none then the ECU is flaky.
It was 1oC when I finished the job today and it started up instantly. WIN.

I always get a laugh out of your posts. I too get great satisfaction out of giving the finger to inanimate objects.psilosin wrote:

The Prince and the Revolution LEDs are only on when the glow plug system is active...so for a cold start they will be lit for 2-3 minutes and then be off for the rest of the drive.
But they might turn on again if I pass by a red corvette with a girl in a raspberry beret driving.

removed stock broken battery tray. the bolts were so toast i had to drill them all. Then i started pulling the front end off to do the timing chain. A few broken bolts and bumper tabs nothing to it lol. Tomorow remove condens and rad and pull timing chain cover. things are a bit crusty so gonna sand it all down and paint it while its apart. Has anyone done a vinager rad flush before?

Re: What did you do TO your Delica today?
Sounds like you probably know it already. My thoughts were: use soft water: E.G.: distilled or reverse osmosis. Borrow a Ph meter from someone, calibrate it, and check your rinse phase flush. (Leaving an acidic residue in the rad will produce hydrogen gas that the coolant will not like, and corrode the fins with copper acetate.) If you get a Ph value of <7 do another rinse with baking soda (has a Ph of almost 9, or even better l-arginine (from your local health food store, Ph of 12.4). Rinse again after your neutralizing phase and check Ph, repeat until you have value of 7. Avoid neutralizing with drain cleaner or soapy water - will leave deposits if you use them to balance.

Replaced the right front CV axle yesterday due to boots being broken. Apparently the one I replaced it with was broken(inside) and so I had to put my old one back in. On the bright side, im pretty efficient at changing these axles now. It took 45 mins the second time around to swap it out!

Re: What did you do TO your Delica today?
Motored down to Coombs for a regular service - Darren changed the oil and filter, the air filter and had a good sniff around. I had asked them to fix the AC which wasn't engaging, but it was working when he switched it on to test it... gremlins?
Back home I stopped in at Kal-tire and ordered up a new set of BFG AT's as winter is here and the ones I have are 100,000 kms old and though evenly worn, they're worn... Rotating really makes 'em last longer...
