the woes of Lordco

Post by mycale »

you'd think i would have learned by now. I went back to Lordco again, this time for an oil filter, was quoted 35$ on the phone, bought the filter and was charged 50$ for a FRAM oil filter. I drained the oil from my engine and put some oil in the filter. I went to take the old filter off and just by hand I thought i would measure the old one and the new, pricey Lordco one. the lordco one isn't the the same length as the one the boys up in Coombs put on for me.!!! Now, I gotta wonder if I can get my $$ back from Lordco...i wonder. Is it me, or is Lordco completely stuck on FRAM and are they completely bent on taking my $ cos i look like a noob??? haha I was up at Rocky Mountain Imports and I might just stick with them!

Your profile says you have a L400.

If so, find your nearest Mitsubishi Fuso dealer. Go in and ask to buy part: Mitsubishi ME228898

Costs about $35.00 or so. That is the exact match for the L400 4M40 Diesel engine.

I hate going into Lordco. Talk about an over-inflated sense of self-importance. It's like all the camaro guys who used to throw a football around the high school parking lot ended up as lordco clerks. Whatever their thing is, I'm sure not in the club.

Why not use Rocky mtn, RSI, etc - they all ship?

ya, I am going to go to them for parts...they are just up the island from me. I hear ya on the weirdness of Lordco though. I do get a handy discount, but on my last bill...well, it just didn't make any sense...50 bucks for an oil filter! jeezz

Coombs has a kick ass selection of goodies for a pretty decent price. Better than RMI for a delica IMHO.

Lordco is useless, at least when in comes to jdm. I went in to look at roof bars and got no where! If they can't cross reference it in their catalog, and they can't with Delicas, then they are as good as a flashlight without batteries. The only helpful thing I got was the suggestion to check out All Seasons Auto Rack (who, by the way, were awesome!).

For the Manitoba crew these are $24.72 at Connexion Truck Centre Ltd. at 440 Oakpoint Highway in Winnipeg.

My experiences at Lordco haven't been that bad , they have been great at paint matches (3 different delis) and when I got filters for my last deli at the Langford store they had 3 different brands on offer.( I had to hunt down some part #'s tho)
One of the managers at the burnside location was a deli owner and they have been pretty good to me as well.
One of the things with Lordco is most of their customers are commercial accounts and their service is obviously tiered by account activity but I'm in the construction business and most of the suppliers I deal with on a daily basis are like that as well.
When compared to crappy tire I find Lordco a treat. Our other car is a 70's mini built for NA and it's often harder to find parts for that my JDM deli.

thats my 2 cents

<smh>

I thought people on this forum would have learned by now:

NO CANADIAN TIRE and NO LORDCO.

Still, I one is up for a challenge and a bit of sport, walk thru that door I say.

The nice thing about the oil filters that RMI sells is they have the drain bolt in them, so it makes draining the oil cooler that much easier (especially on an L400). On my Pajero, the oil filter is up over top of the suspension arms, so it still dribbles all over everything whether I use that style of filter or not.

I get my filters at Les Hall in No. Van. $36.

I have an L300 (BD28) but I am sure they would have them for the L400.
I usually pick up 3-4 at a time.

I have to say that the Lordco in Quesnel has friendly service. I bought the K&N and headlight plastic shield for my L400 from them. I didn't expect the guy would walk me around the store and help me pick up the products (instead on the phone).

Surprisingly I have found that Lordco In North Van and in Richmond have been very good. The one in North Van has a list regarding the Starwagon, Pajero but limited on the Space Gear. I believe this list originated from a Lordco on the Island. If they don't have the info on hand but you bring in the old part they will find it. Also if you have the OEM number then they can cross reference it. I just did this with my stop-light switch yesterday.

The Lordco on Marine dr and Tsawwassen and every Napa I went to while travelling were all very helpful. If you get a lazy employee you just have to be stubborn and eventually you'll get what you need at a decent price. I paid $22 for a Fram L300 filter (same as L400) before I installed my dual bypass system. Crappy Tire on the other hand is awful, I feel like punching just about every employee I talk to.
