It is dead easy on an L400/Pajero with teh 2.8L 4M40. The EGR system is right up top and in easy view. Search on Delica.ca should turn up a few install howto's. You can get the blanking plates from many places form Ebay to a couple local vendors (if they are still in business) like Dennis Lambert from Kelowna or OddBallOffroad.com.

*You shoud also do it on the Surf, they really have a crappy EGR system, but unfortunately the blanking location is in a real pain in the arse location making it no fun. As such most people just make a block at the intake end and leave the EGR piping in place (http://toyotasurf.asn.au/techsite/egr.htm)

OK. I'll definitely have a look at the Surf as well. To say that it runs terrible would be unfair to things that are actually terrible, lol. Once the Surf gets up to temperature, it's fine... but that first ten minutes. Yeesh.

I know that Rising Sun have the EGR mods for pretty reasonable, so I'll get on to them to ship me up a set.

Many thanks, psilosin! It's great being able to chat with people knowledgeable about small vehicle diesels. I work in engineering for the mines and you can't go too far around here without bumping into a diesel mechanic... problem is, if the engine doesn't have 2500+ horsepower, they have no idea!
